DAKAR!!

The fabled Dakar Rally starts tomorrow in Argentina and is always worth watching.  It runs through Argentina, over the Andes into Chilie, back over the Andes and back to the east coast of Argentina.  There are bikes, quads, cars and trucks - sorry, did I say trucks? - I meant

TRUCKS!

These things weigh 12 tonnes and are now speed limited to (I think) 150 KPH after speeds broke through the 200 KPH mark some years ago.  At 12 tonnes, they are five times heavier than the Syncro and just have to be seen to be believed.   All Syncro drivers should at least once watch these monsters; they are the bigger brothers of the Syncro.

It is awe inspiring to see how all competitors - bikes, quads, cars, trucks - traverse improbable landscapes at unbelievable speeds over thousands of kilometers.

It is on SBS every evening at 6PM for the next two weeks and I can reccommend it to everyone.

Love the Dakar, I know what I will be doing each night for the next couple of weeks.

Cheers,

I agree, I just love the trucks. I'm always disappointed at how
little they show of them. Plus I think they concentrate on the top
cars too much. I'd like to see some of the "ordinary drivers".

But it is 2 weeks of not to miss TV.
