decoupler light wiring

So finally my syncro gearbox has been rebuilt and refitted, most replaced internals came from Weddle Industries, apart from one they didn't have in stock so I sourced it from Van Cafe.

I had a Weddle-provided decoupler installed, but its only instruction for the operating light was 'fit the light bulb' to the console. Now, my little centre console has a bulbs fitted for both rear diff lock and decoupler, as well as one for backlighting. But only the back light works!

Is there somewhere specific in the T3 wiring (maybe near or on the decoupler?) that needs to be connected in order to have the operating light on when decoupled? I can see the bulb connects to a PCB which I assume is OEM.

Also separate issue: rear diff lock is not operating, has been checked on gearbox rebuild and all good, vacuum is good (same lines T'd for decoupler which works) so I've been told the actuator needs to be replaced. Anyone has a working one to spare, or a good source for one of these?

Thanks in advance,

Gaetan

Hi Gaetan,

The wiring for the de-coupler should be near where the de-coupler is located - especially of you have wiring for the rear locker. You should just be able to plug it in and it works (well mine was there and it worked immediately).

Regarding the rear locker - I would jack up both back wheels and check its function before you chase a new actuator. You can take of the vacuum hoses and use compressed air to check if it works - just put the air over the nozzle and the actuator should move in on one side nozzle and out on the other. If the de-coupler is working both rear wheels will spin in the same direction. Un-locked they will spin in opposite directions.

Your rear locker sensor may also not be operating properly. My de-coupler did this after my recent gearbox re-build as the earth wire was so bent due to the way the loom is set up - it snapped. Easy fix was to fit another earth wire and it worked.

Check all possibilities before replacing something - you may end up replacing the wrong thing.

Bets of luck.

Cheers,

Scott
