decoupler on ebay

Have seen this decoupler kit for sale on ebay, wondering if it would be suitable for my ex telstra camper which doesn't have front or rear diff locks as it appears to have most of the bits required and if the price is reasonable,i've only had this vehicle since december and it appears to be working as it should with slight binding on full lock my only concern, any thoughts on this would be appreciated, cheers mike
Mike. Decouplers brand new are readily available on the nett for about $1,000. They come with enough kit to connect to a syncro with existing diff lock, that is pre existing vacuum tank etc. Your ex telstra van dosn't have the vacuum tank and would need all the extras in this ebay package. However this ebay deal say's remanufactured[ WOTEVER THAT MEANS} AND NO RETURNS. I would be looking at costing a brand new item from someone like Derrick Drew in america and costing the other bits seperately[ vacuum tank, lines, dash panel etc]. vAN CAFE IN AMERICA OR GO WESTY MAY BE A GOOD START. Do your homework. Bill
Mike,
This is for sale on TheSamba but hasn't yet sold for US$400, goto: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1261123
Neither has this sold yet for US$425, goto: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1260425
Missing of course is the decoupler and other items in both cases.

This ebay item you found looks pretty complete for a rear difflock install, I notice though the dash control panel once had a pull switch installed for a front difflock as the LHS position is open. This special front difflock pull switch doesn't appear to be included.
This sort of gear is pretty rare, particularly so complete in a single offering. I'd be wondering first which model/version of decoupler ... US or German origin, age and usage.
Ask the seller more about the decoupler and if anything is missing and/or broken. At $1500, if you're satisfied with the answers you get, probably worth it.

In 2007 I paid AU$2500.00 for a German decoupler alone .... that was the going price at the time. Captive audience rip-off back then? Probably.

So by comparison, this offering isn't too bad. But as Bill said, take the time left to do your homework to satisfy yourself.
Cheers.

Mike,
A correction. On offer is a decoupler with a dash panel that's never had a decoupler installed. But it has had front and rear difflocks installed, given the LH and RH switch openings.
So whats on offer is a bit more curious.
