decoupler

Hi Greg,

I wholeheartedly agree with Francesca and Ken, but I like to add that Syncro Services deliveries take quite a bit longer.
They seem to be the same unit.

Also the exchange rate of the $OZ with $US makes it very attractive at the moment.

I purchased mine through Florian and found him to be excellent. He was always prompt with emails and his delivery arrangements. He was very quick to return my deposit as soon as he received the old cone. His instructions are clear and he has great after sales service. Thoroughly recommended.

A great time to buy as well!!

We have had many positive reports that he is an efficient and ethical trader.

Greg,
There are quite a few syncros in Oz that have decouplers that cost owners say 3 plus years ago, supply only, $AU2500. So current prices are a steal.
I've purchased from Syncro-Services in the past and happily recommend them as the most customer friendly european source of syncro components, especially for those of us who fail badly in german.
However, if I was buying a DC today, I'd be buying the more complete/easier package from Florian.

I suggest you email Florian direct for the answer to your question, I suspect they both supply the same german decoupler, Florian would know he is in direct competition with Syncro-Services.

Recently I came across online a direct comparison review of a range of decouplers, complete with comparative pics of each (looking into the nosecones showing the differences of design) and the reviewers final choice. Very informative. I regret now not saving the link. Might have been a UK site.
Anyone else know the link?

Cheers.
Ken

Hello and sorry for joining this thread so late.

The current exchange rate brings a decoupler from me to under AU$1000
shipped. That is the cheapest it has ever been. The problem is that my
costs are also rising since I buy the parts in Germany, so I may have
to raise prices end of May if the U.S. Dollar does not gain traction.

As to whether my units are the same as Syncro-services - yes and no.
German resellers are competing over the allotment from what we all
believe is the best manufacturer (he only makes 120 a year). I
exclusively use decouplers from this source, and when I cannot get any
from him, I am simply out of stock. My competitors, being bigger
companies, always want to have stock on hand, so they use an alternate
source if they run out of stock from the preferred supplier. Since I
believe that all other suppliers known to me have oil sealing issues
in the long run, I do not go that route.

Thank you,

it is a significant advantage and safely feature -
which any syncro with a decoupler and solid shaft instead of VC lacks on pavement.

good on ya.

BenC,

Just making a slight correction. Florian WAS in California just across the San Francisco Bay Bridge from me. He has since relocated to the State of Colorado. That's some 900 miles and few States away from California.

I realize the US appears to Aussies like OZ appears to us Americans. We understand that you're all just a few days walk from one another across croc infested swamps, parched deserts hoping with marsupials, and oceans teeming with great whites. ;-) The only difference is our marsupials mostly hang from trees.

Cheers,

ColorDado? Sounds like a place where they make "drawers". But get you knickers in a bunch. It's the Florian just moved one mile up in altitude.

Hi all,

I'm sure this has come up before, but any comments on which decoupler to get, and the best source?

I know there are quite a few suppliers about, but is there a good reason to got for the copy of the factory design or the US design?

Thanks,

Richard

depends if you are going to fit it yourself, i purchased mine from the states for about $900-00 aus, add postage for the nose which Steve Muller lent me
to the usa and the postage back of the decoupler had mine fitted by Steve Muller app $900-00 so all up about $2000-00, i was talking to Paul Muller the other and he said that he will supply and install a decoupler for app $2000-00, mine works fine as you tend to drive in 2 wheel most of the time it has a easy life. I suppose you take the risk if the O/S unit fails and you have to ship it back to buying in aus and having the supplier work it out.
