I seem to remember certain members of this group discovering that their non diff lock syncro's actually had provision in their gearbox to retro fit a diff lock. I'm about to get down and get dirty (it's raining here in Mallacoota) under a syncro with no diff locks. What am I looking for to see if this vehicle has such a gearbox to retro fit a diff lock. Are there any serial numbers I need to look for. Go easy on me as I'm mechanically impaired but can someone give me any idea of where to look or what to look for.,Regards
Michael

Seems that non-diff lock boxes have just the 2, whereas the Diff-lock boxes have the 4.

Michael, I don't think it is that easy. There has been some discussion on this subject over the last few weeks if you go back through the messages.
If it is possible it requires some very precise machining and possibly replacement of the diff unit within the box.Gary[2 0 / 2 1 Design]

Went through the same thing with my ex-telstra syncro. Check out this link to a question I asked about retro-fitting difflocks a while back. I posted up pictures there of the locker bosses too which can be found both on front and rear gearbox. There's even provisions for a decoupler on the nose cone I was never aware of until I sent it to germany for exchange. Anyway here goes http://forum.club8090.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=44694&p=7304195#p7304195

A good thread - did you end up purchasing the kits from CJ @ Syncrospares UK?

I had found myself a Syncro parts van in Mittagong which I was planning to use the gearbox from. Unfortunately, despite having made a deal with the owner and whilst waiting for payment details from him, someone turned up with a trailer and cash and, according to the 70+yo owner, was "very insistent" and would not leave without it. I think he felt harassed and was very apologetic to me when we next spoke. Thanks to whoever that was.
Anyway, moving on, does anyone have a difflock gearbox they would consider parting with?
Cheers
Andy

Hi all, while we're on the subject of VC v solid shaft I'd like to deviate slightly to diff locks. Thanks to a member on this forum
