thought i'd share my recent findings on gearboxes.found out today the problem with my broken gearbox is in fact the diff.what surprised me was that it only has the two spider gear diff in it (aka diff pinion gears) and only the locker gearboxes had the 4 spider gear diffs.i took out a 5speed 2wd box from a non running 85 van and it also had the 2 sipider gear diff in it. what surprised me even further is that after some research on the etka site i found that my 92 2wd van has the 4 spider gear diff in it.what were they thinking, putting the weak diffs in 4wd's and strong ones in 2wd's!anyway i'm now trying to hunt down a differential (of the strong variety), so if anyone could point me in a helpful direction, please do so .thanks Eddie Bergodaz.
ps. was talking to albins gears today and all the 6.17 r&p sets went to go westy .they ordered 100 sets and got a great price on the bulk order, so even if we came up with the minimum 10 orders they require for a production run the price would be more than what go westy are selling them for-approx $1600 for rear alone was suggested.
