DigiFun

Had a proper look at the graph and understand it now. They have just made it more compact. Interesting that the temp 1 an 2 sensors have the same values. Greg E

Greg,
I have located one at Volks Home in Thomastown.  Now have to borrow a car from a friend to get myself out there!

OK, all sorted and thanks to everyone’s input

The VAG part number is 025 906041   (Note: no A on the end of the number.)

The OEM supplier was Bosch and the Bosch part number is: 0 280 130 026.

John at Volks Home in Thomastown had one in stock, cost $40.

Les

By the way, the sender in the picture has a blue terminal block but the one that I found today, made by Bosch and in original Bosch packaging, is turquoise and I am told that they came in both colours.

Greg,

John mentioned yesterday that the Telecom vans had problems with this sender and they replaced quite a few in service but, between customers and phones ringing, I didn’t get a chance to ask further questions.  All he got to say was that they failed frequently.  I assume that they were Bosch.

Les I can't imagine why telecom vans would have had a higher failure rate. I would guess that he worked in a place that had a contract with telecom and worked on alot of their vans (you have to be authorised). Judging by the layers or red dirt on mine I think it is original. I will have to keep on crossing my fingers it does fail along with the hall sensor, the ignitor and the ecu!!!

Interesting!  I was quoted $96 at Werribee Volkswagen and was quite happy to pay $40 at Volks Home to get me going again.  It is in fact a simple part and $29.70 is reasonable given the manufacturing and stock cost.

Hartmut,
Actually I assume extra for retail PLUS shipping from Tooleys?

Alternatively, plus shipping, there is Bosch at http://www.busdepot.com/025906041
or if you had an intermediary US address to send it to first there are these at http://www.gowestyautoparts.com/OEM/oemSearch.aspx?search=025906041

So many choices, and prices.
Cheers.
