Donor Syncro

Hi guys, 

I'm looking at doing a 2WD to Syncro Conversion.

Ideally looking for a tired rusty donor Syncro, but happy to start collecting parts.

Any tips, or leads would be appreciated.

Mark,

2wd T3s are getting really expensive and syncro parts vans are even more so due to their rarity.

Good luck with your challenge but donors are very hard to get these days - everyone seems to want to repair theirs?

But if you do find one - let us know how it goes.

I have seen on Facebook someone converting a 2wd T3 to an off-road monster but fitting running gear and shortened chassis from an FJ60 Landcruiser with 350 chev, Toyota gearbox, transfer case and full running gear.

Will be a crazy machine when done.

Hi Mark,

I am at a crossroads with my Syncro at the moment. 
Just some thoughts out loud, not sure if I am ready to sell or not. 
It would make a good donor for such a project and I have been umming and arrring about the idea for some time but it is now leaking coolant from the passenger side head and I am chronically short of time and money at the moment.  I had big plans for it but was trying to pluck up the courage to put it up for sale when this happened.  I feel bad wrecking it as I know it is a good one.  The body is rough and it has some rust but the drivetrain is good and only 146 000km on the clock.  If I sold it as a donor or broke it up I would like to keep the gearbox but this would probably be the most important part of the donation unless you had another one.  It is a base 2 seat window van with no diff locks but has an aggressive VC and a decoupler and SS coolant pipes and I do have some caravelle seats and interior trim.  NSW Rego expires end of March.  
Just food for thought..........open to discussion.

Hi Neal, sorry to cut in but I'm after a set of captains chairs. You say you've got a set of Caravelle seats so I assume that's what you mean. I would be keen if you are selling them.

Been a member for a while but never posted till now. I know of a blue T3 Syncro parts vehicle which is hiding in Mittagong NSW. The owner is keen to rehome it. He asked for my help to put it on eBay but if anyone is looking for a parts/doner vehicle, this is a good start. Plus it has difflocks.

Sounds OK depending on the condition of the parts.

If everything is a mess - might not be worth that?

Any photos or details on what works and what doesn't?
