DOTVW 2010 Victoria

The 2010 DOTVW has been run, this year at the Yarra Glen Racecourse.

I would like to say that it was an unparalled success but it wasn't from an organizational point of view.

The venue is prone to flooding and the VWCOV mentioned that this might be a facor several weeks ago in the advance advice to participants.  But a parking plan was published with no further mention of flooding, so I assumed that the published plan was final.

On arrival just after eight this morning, we found - chaos!  A flustered gate man told us that sections designated for dedicated models was waterlogged and could not be used, therefore everyone was being directed to a small area and the devil take the hindmost.  What was Plan B?  There was no Plan B!  There was no question of getting the Syncros together.

My initial impulse was just to turn around and go home again.  Fortunately, Roger decided to try again.  He found another Flustered Man, who agreed that we could peg out a small area within the much reduced area for the Syncros.

We did this and finished up with Mark Boys, Theo Weiss, Greg Esposito, Roger and myself - only about half of previous years.  Mark Kofahl was there with a newly purchased twin cab (non-Syncro) with a remarkable slide-on camper in the tub.   Phill and Joanne flew down to join us.

Next year . . .  Who knows . . .

Les

Thanks for your report, Les. That's a pity about the organisational
problems, but I trust the Syncro people enjoyed getting together. Hope
to see you next year (although perhaps at a different venue). Mark K
will you post a pic of your new Doka? It sounds intriguing.
Francesca.
