The Day of the Volkswagen 2013

This is a special event for the VW Club of Victoria - the world's oldest VW club with a known continuous existence - because it is the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Volkswagen in Australia, when VAG opened its first office in Melbourne. 

 

 

We have the same excellent display area on the hill overlooking the whole venue.  (This is down to the fact that I am a member of the VWCoV and I am on the organizing committee.)

 

 

 

 

 

The arrangements are the same as they have been previously.  Go to the Volkswagen Club of Victoria website and enter your vehicle for the Show and Shine.  This gets your Syncro and two adults inside (children are free) to join the Syncros on the hill display.  If you need any further information, please ask.

I will defiantly be there again this year but not in my Syncro.

I will be taking my beetle this year.

Have booked Les. The van is gutted internally but worth bringing to keep up the numbers. Do we enter though that close by gate or follow the instructions on the web site. Greg E

Peter,

You already hold the distance record for the greatest distance travelled to attend!!  Unless one of our West Australia members decides to come one of these years, you are likely to hold the record for a very long time.

Will try to be there and hopefully I can have the 16" doka up and running, have had the front suspension dismantled for many months finally done now part of the exhaust is apart as there was some rot, so parts are getting sent from os. Then alignment of front.

Unfortunately we won't be able to come this year as the date clashes with our school fete, to which we are already committed. Shame not to catch up with you all but hope you all enjoy it and that we can make it next year. Maybe a catch-up at Edinburgh Gardens in March 2014 could be a good idea? Intrigued to see what your current project for your van is, Greg...

Hi Francesca. Just redoing the interior to suit five instead of four. Would have been happy to leave it otherwise.
Making new door cards, seats, flooring and cabinet. Doing some sound and rust proofing whilst I am there. How's your bus going. Did Tony get those bolts out? Greg E

Hi Greg,

I see - have to make room for the youngest Esposito. Good luck with that! No, Tony had no luck with the bolt removal. The next project is to finally fix the noisy power steering. We are off to Taswegia for 3 weeks in December/January so there might be some more fine tuning to do too.

As a heads-up on the noisy power steering that Francesca mentions, she has the classic case of the relief valves being clogged and not functioning.  There is a piston at each end of the steering rack which has an outward facing pin.  This pin opens a valve at the end of the rack when the steering gets to full travel (full lock) and by-passes the hydraulic pressure back to the pump.  The common symptom of clogged pins is the pump squealing at full lock.  Easily fixed.

The entry arrangement is the same as for last year.  As you approach along Armstrong Grove, you will see a gate on the right with turnstiles just past that gate.  (The main entry gate is further on and further off the road.)  We use the first gate.  Have your entry details ready to show and you can then drive straight in.  Our area is the strip on the right side of the gate.  We share it with 2WD T3’s but separate them further down the hill.
