DotVW pre-entry

Those interested in coming to this event on 21st Nov. should be warned that the on-line pre-entry closes TONIGHT. I've been a bit snowed under lately and only just got around to it myself and that's when I saw the closing time. So if you want your pre-entry goodies you've got about an hour and a half.

I also put a message out a little while back asking any-one planning to camp on site on the Saturday night to pmail me so I can organise payment details (you can't do it with your pre-entry, unfortunately). So far I've had no response. Is any-one going to do this?

I'll be working in Mallacoota for a week, commencing Wednesday, so may be a little slow responding, but I will have email access.

Brian Reed

Brian,

Thanks for the heads-up but – the link doesn’t work!!

Any suggestions?

Les

Dear Brian,
I've been down at Lorne but managed to get my application off before I left.I have therefore just come home to the goodies entitlement pack.
Not quite clear how to book the Saturday night on site camping of which I want to be part.Would it help if I called round when you are back from Mallacoota or is there a better way of doing it?
Can I also add my congratulations and thanks to Francesca for her new role.I reckon Les realised that any mother comes with plenty of experience at moderating. Hope you get to realise all your plans too Les. Is any help needed with signage ,photos videos etc for DotVW?
Cheers
Roger

Hi Roger,

I hope you enjoyed Lorne.
My plan was to find out who was going to camp, then make an arrangement with John Farlow (organiser) about payment. So far though, I've only had your response. I could presume on Les, but his situation is obviously fluid. I've spoken to Micheal Rayner, who was the other respondant in the poll, today, and unfortunately he has a clash for that weekend (he's still keen on Shallow Crossing).
The original point of the exercise was to get together with the interstaters. Mark and/or Hartmut had indicated some interest early on, but I'd have to assume they're not coming now (please let me know ASAP if you are, or any-one else for that matter).
That might leave just you and me, and much as I'd enjoy your company, I'd have to wonder whether it was worth the effort, given that we'll still have the Sunday.

Brian.

Agree Brian - if we get a quorum count me in but as you suggest,  you and I can catch up on the Sunday if we are the only starters. I'll watch the replies and we can confirm what we are doing say next Wednesday. If any interstaters are coming down - Mark, Hart Phil  ?? I could offer accomodation in North Carlton close to the CBD on Friday night but need to know soon as am currently down for some grandchildren baby sitting.
Cheers

Brian,

My situation has become a bit clearer and I will be there.

As you point out, there’s not a lot of point overnighting if it is just two or three of us.

Responses please, so that we know :

a)     how much space we need for the day

b)     how many might overnight

We need to know in the next couple of days.

Les

Hi Brian and crew

I'm definitely coming down for DOTVW - I'm not yet 100% certain if I can camp out on the Saturday night. I could defintely meet for dinner on Satuday night at least with yourself, Roger and anyone else gathering. Would that perhaps be a good option (a Syncro dinner at a local German restaurant / club or similar?)

Regards
Mark.

Joanne & I may be in for that.
Somewhere near the venue?
We're staying at Melba Lodge, Melba Hwy, Yarra Glen Sat/Sun night.

Hi Brian,

Unfortunately I can’t make it to the DotVW this year, just too much on and I do have difficulties driving long distances with my damaged shoulder. Good news though, it’s on the mend !

I do hope that all of you will have a great time , Hartmut

Dear Hart,
Sorry we won't see you this year - have you thought of cycling down as I keep seeing signs on the highway - "cyclist please use left shoulder".

Just to confirm I will be there Sunday and can currently make Saturday for an overnight stay if we have enough to justify it . Currently Brian, Les, Mark and myself?

Cheers

Roger, suits me, as my right shoulder is out of wack, but 4 month after the chainsaw incident it starts to get a little better and fingers crossed I will start my Sunday morning cycle run again. The fun part is of course loading the bike onto the Tristar and driving to the start Cafe’ and after brekkie driving home!! (the bike ride is there somewhere in the middle of the previous sentence).

All good ciao Hart

I'll be there this Sunday!

Phill
I've spoken to John Farlow tonight, and apparently the venue was washed out a couple of weeks ago, and there is a good dump of rain forecast again this weekend. Camping may be in doubt (indeed the whole event may be, if rain is prolonged). John expects to have some clarity by Tuesday, and I will report when I'm back in Melbourne on Wednesday.

Meanwhile perhaps some-one (Roger maybe?) could check on a suitable restaurant in the Yarra Glen area, given that I'm out of town. Alternatively, the club will be having a dinner on Saturday night with Fletch, the TV presenter (Ch 31; Classic Resto's) who filmed last year, and will be again this year. We have been invited to join them (VWCV membership status not required) if we wish. I will have details for this on Wednesday as well.

Much as we want the rain, here's hoping we don't get too much this week.

Dear Brian,
Mark is flying down anyway as he will be returning with another T3. (Hope Debbie doesn't read these posts) As a fall back I will find a suitable restaurant in the Yarra Glen area that could accomodate say 4-6 of us  which will need me to overcome my natural inclination to go for the place with large golden arches that gives free coffe for seniors. I'm personally attracted to taking up the the VW people's kind invitation.
Can you let us know the latest on the site  etc when you return and we can do a quick round robin to see what everyone wants to do. You're the expert on the best way to fill a prescription.
Cheers
Roger

I've spoken to John Farlow tonight, and apparently the venue was washed out a couple of weeks ago, and there is a good dump of rain forecast again this weekend. Camping may be in doubt (indeed the whole event may be, if rain is prolonged). John expects to have some clarity by Tuesday, and I will report when I'm back in Melbourne on Wednesday.

Meanwhile perhaps some-one (Roger maybe?) could check on a suitable restaurant in the Yarra Glen area, given that I'm out of town. Much as we want the rain, here's hoping we don't get too much this week.
