Hi Les,

I will be coming down from QLD in my Syncro and would like to attend but it appears too late for pre-registration, so if I turn up on the day will I be able to park with the rest of the Syncro troop? Should I enter through the main entrance or the the secret one?

Cheers

Peter,

I will look into this immediately because we have another Syncro coming that wasn’t registered – Phill Lander will be driving Roger Bell’s (proper) Syncro.  I should have an answer well before you leave Queensland.

Are you coming down the Newell or down the coast?

Peter,

Go direct to the dedicated entry gate closest to Armstrong Grove, where you can pay at the gate.  This is an addition to the earlier arrangements, under which this gate would have been pre-paid only.

If anyone has not got the map for 2012, email e direct and I will send it to you.

Rather to my surprise, we now have twelve Syncros for Sunday!!

Moreover, we have one coming from Queensland – Peter Kolevas – one from Newcastle – Paul Nevin – one from Ballarat – Tony Marshall, and Phill Lander will be bringing Roger Bell’s T3 Syncro out from Carlton.

Well done everyone!!!

Les

May the sun shine on your parade!

That will be just as I get off the train at Stratford to cycle up to Briagolong. As the Bard penned at Stratford on Avon "So fair and foul a day I have not seen"
After the sunny day of the VW it might be the night of putting up the tent in the rain, still they say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger

Roger,

Sorry, so much incoming at the moment that I missed this.  Jokes aside, we are all in together.  The space allocated to us is far bigger than we can ever use and I am thinking about next year already and the possibility of including other Kombi/Transporters.  The primary objective is to retain out allocation but not be dog in manger.

Roger

Just a few weeks before the DOTVW, we had barely a handful coming. On the day, to my continuing surprise and everlasting relief, we were almost overrun. In fact, it turned into a rather notable day. We had 14 Syncros and the apparent number was swelled by the addition of several 2WD T3’s, which made it look like an even stronger attendance plus Roger’s T5 on the end of the line.

The T3 Syncro allocated area is by far the best spot on the racecourse. It is the highest point and we have a straight line presentation that looks good from any angle. My early concern at the low number of responses centres on the fact that low attendance numbers could easily cost us this prime spot. The fact that we filled it on the day (we actually had an overflow!) helps us to retain it.

The distance-to-attend record, previously held by Hartmut, is now held by Peter and Isabel Kolevas, who came from the hinterland of the Gold Coast. Next this year was Paul Nevin from Newcastle. A third person also deserves mention – the man who bought Roger’s T3 Syncro, Brett Harris. Brett Harris flew down from Newcastle, concluded the deal and proceeded on to Yarra Glen!! At the end of the day, Brett set off for Newcastle – to be at work this morning!!! Phill and Joanne Lander fly down from NSW each year and were with us again.

Attendees:

Francesca Cole/Anthony Balint + two sons

Thomas Mischler

Tony Marshall (Ballarat)

Greg Esposito, Alice + 2 ½ children

Theo Weiss, Christine

Eddie Bergodaz

Paul Nevin (Newcastle)

Brett Harris (Newcastle

Peter Kolevas, Isabel (Gold Coast)

Andrew Longmire

I think that I have missed a couple – can anyone fill them in?

Although I'm not a Syncro owner I would have loved to have been there to have a look at the vehicles but unfortunately it was a busy day.

(I had to make up my mind whether I went to the DOTVW, G-Wagen Treffen in Mansfield, or the LROCV Christmas Party 8-((( )

I look forward to seeing some pics of the day.

BTW, earlier in the year there was a Steyr Puch SUV gathering at Magna Steyr, Graz, Austria....I got an invite to attend but work got in the way.

Did any Syncro owners from here go?

Peter.
