drive line vibration

After putting in my tailshaft in the spot I marked last year(although my marks didnt line up exactly, can anyone tell me why?),I could feel very slight vibs in a 10 kay range that I dont believe was ther last year.
I loosened front diff and trans mounts and took car for a short drive.no vibration. On the hoist again a tightened bolts.Went for a test, slight vibs in a smaller speed range(58-64ks approx).
Back on hoist, loosened mounts, give a dreanching in WD.RT no vibs.Tightened mounts with vehicle on ground this time.RT vib still ther slightly.Clutch in,out of gear,no vib.Car back on hoist, with a bar checked for excessive movement in all mounts. All ok.Tighened all sub frame, bash bar bolts and put a bar on the front diff mount bolts again.SNAP.I broke one.Replaced bolt.RT and small vib noticable during accelaraion and decel. When the diff seems to be looser the vib is not there.I cant make any sense from this?Maybe I will try new unis, dampner and get shaft balanced. Can anyone make any sense from my findings. It has me beat why the marks are slightly out,if I move the shaft another 90 degrees they arnt even close.Im thinking it must be unis and/or dampner.
The vibation is very slight but I refuse to believe its just a normal thing from T25s.
Ben,
Great work all the same. Maybe you've just disproved this newfangled theory about loosening/driving/tightening the front diff as an alignment method.
Aside from constructing specialised laser tools for alignment of the whole drivetrain (questionable?), there have been posters on the US syncro forum stating that deteriorated front diff rubber mounts are the cause or are part of the cause of vibration, so they believe these should be replaced. Of course then, this may also bring into question worn transaxle mounts as well.
Cheers.

No, there should be no vibration at all.

Are you sure that the unis are good? It doesn't take much.
I have had all trans mounts last year when I did the gearbox, they are a round 2 or 3 piece(cant rememeber exaclty),they appeared to be fine.I cleaned, lubed them and tightened them.
I had a good look at the front 3 piece mounts too.All o.k.CLT them. The only one I havent seen is the very front one.Leavered it with a bar,and it seemed fine.Tightened.
I am now leaning toward uni jonts, maybe damoner

Phill,Dad was telling me about the vibration that you have been chasing for years. After taking him for a drive he tells me that,my vibration is like what you have.Have you fixed it?

I had two vibrations.

Between 75-80 was one and 70-75 was the other. One was the uni. The other I am still looking. Most times it is the uni. If you take your tailshaft out does the vibration go away?

Have you replaced dampner?

No

> Who did your unis?

Not done yet. Get in touch with Rick as he knows someone.

Did you get the shaft balanced?

Should not be needed.

You should be able to feel the unis. As you turn them you feel tight then loose.

Hi there Phill and fellow syncro punters.

A little good vibrations story.
Syncro lifted on Gowesty springs last time the dollar was good.
Syncro too light for fat man's syncro springs.
Topping out suspension. ( carry more friends now )
Also vibrating like a blowie in a coke can.

Resolved most things between myself and good mechanic over the space
of 15 months.
Vibe remedies included :
Balance the driveshaft.
Replace shaft bushing with poly thing from a local mob.
STILL VIBRATING @ 45-70kmh.
Replace front right inner/outer cv's and discover a 16" cv
on the other side ????
STILL VIBRATING.
Balance driveshaft again after reading about laser levels and
rubber mounts, moving it and making it worse.
Replace rear left cv.
JOY !
80% better.
Read about loosening front diff and driving.
Try it.
100%
BIGGER JOY !

ps Syncro is 270,000 km old now.

Mark

Removed shaft today and found some play in the rear uni, will replace them next year and get shaft balanced.Replaced n/s/f cv boots today, what a great job that is!

You really should not need to get the shaft balanced.

Let me know when you are getting it done.
