In other markets, VW sent Syncros with round headlights up to the last
years of production. For example, my 1989 Syncro 16 which was
originally delivered in Belgium came with round headlights.
The other thing is subsequent owners might switch to the older style
(called back-dating in the US) round headlight for economic or
aesthetic reasons. Price on a round H4 headlight is about 1/4-1/8 the
cost of the corresponding rectagular lens not to mention there are two
(hi beam & low beam) vs. hi/low single round lamps. In the US,
replacing the awful US DOT lowbeams with H4's is popular. Most use the
newer style grills with quad lighting from South Africa but others
simply source a used grill and headlight buckets from an earlier
Vanagon.

I thought that might be the answer Les. Having delt with the importers I doubt any records were kept.Greg--- On Tue, 9/2/10, Les Harris <leslieharris@optusnet.com.au> wrote: |

I can't remember the number but I think that it was under 2000.

Telstra), and about the same sold privately. Don't know how reliable those
figures were, even back when I heard them, but I don't think total T3
numbers topped 1000 in many years. I've seen the figures posted somewhere,
but I can't remember where now.
