Dual Cab Syncro For Sale on TheSamba

Hi Bruce,

The starter motor I do have comes out of a half 95 Golf TDI so possibly won’t fit yours. The no is Bosch 2 339 303 222 722 I am afraid I can not help you with a # from our 96 TDI to get too it is a major undertaking. Hart

Try getting it repaired. A lot of bits are interchangeable.
It may just be brushes or the solenoid.

Phill, what I wanted to do was replace the Hi-Torque with a TDI starter. Apparently the Hi-Torque are a bit unreliable plus don't spin quite as fast as a TDI starter. Still I will get this one repaired for now so I can get going again.

This is not pleasant having a Syncro that doesn't go..........

People were talking recently about T5 reliability. Years ago i used to read how unreliable the T3 was and it terrified me. BUT this is only the 2nd time in 19 years 71/2 months and 276,000 km (175,000 WBX 101,000 TDI) I've actually come to a dead stop. Thankfully both times in the garage and both times with a crook starter motor.

Bruce

PS, that dual cab would look good in the shed............but unfortunately one is enough..,,

Bruce,

Are you saying one shed is enough or one syncro is enough.

I really like both.

Ahhhh... your right, I would love another syncro and my shed is a bit small, only 9mx9m. I would need an extension for another syncro.

Now my brother has a real shed 21mx9m unfortunately he has to share some of it with his son, even though he doesn't live at home anymore AND has his own shed.

Bruce,

Ahhh...Sheds - they are like the Neanderthal mans cave - you just have to have one.

Size comparisons are not good here -my "Shed" is only 2.3m x 2.4m and clearly wont fit a syncro but a few good parts. At least I have a garage  which is 12m x 3.5m - not too bad - 2 kombis in there (one with a bull bar and a wheel carrier).

Cheers,

I'm guessing OZ has the similar glut of shipping containers that we have in the US. Apparently, it's cheaper to sell them here for scrap instead of shipping them back to China to be refilled.

I got a 40 footer at 9'-6" in height and 8' in width. Stuffed my spare Syncro Doka in there and a ton of parts. Then I got a 20 footer where I stuffed the (Land Rover) Bowler Tomcat. Much less expensive than building a shed and quite secure. I am lucky to have a mate who owns a container moving service.

Cheers,
