EJ25 Subaru Transplant

Hi All

Am just about to order a reconditioned 2007 EJ25 engine from Alldrivesubaru in Peakhurst.

It comes with manifold, ECU, wiring, ignition lock and immobiliser (I hope).

This will replace the existing 1998 EJ22 which has never worked properly. It was supplied with the wrong harness and ECU (out of a holden??).

I may need some tips during the change over :-)

Hopefully it won't be to painful.

Make sure you can run that engine out of the original Subaru, that year ecu will probably be seeking information from the ABS, Air bag module and transmission module to run.

You should be able to get the 1998 EJ 22 to run on an earlier ECU/Manifold. I'm running a '97 on earlier gear.

Tom Shiels in Canada is a good man to do your wiring. Postage and exchange will add up but if there's problems they'll get solved.

If not running best left alone. Also good idea to get an oil analysis if you really want the engine.

This is the process explained to me by 'All Drive Subaru'.
They have a complete car - the engine is running - has done about 180 to 200,000 kms.
They remove the engine and do a full recondition - valves - gaskets - rings - bearings - belts etc.
The ecu, wiring harness, fuse box, ignition barrel (with key?) are taken from the same car - everything that is required for it to run (hopefully).
They also said if I have any problems, they will offer backup support to get it running.
I also believe that 2007 model is as late as you should go.
