Engaging Decoupler at Speed???

I have a (USA) decoupler that has been fitted for 3 1/2 years without
any problems. My VC is very tight so the difference is most noticable.

I drive on a lot of unsealed roads, living where I do, and when the
road surface is loose, the vehicle handles considerably better with
the decoupler coupled (!!!) as you would expect. However I do not
like having the drive train under unnecessary stress as it would be
on long patches of hard, not loose road with decoupler coupled, or
engaged.
Obviously, on unsealed roads the surface can change a number of times
over a 20 or 30 km section (for example) which is why I am asking the
question: is it ok and unlikely to cause damage to engage or
disengage the decoupler when travelling at (say) 70, 80 or 90 kmh?

My logic says that as long as all wheels are travelling at the sam
rpm's, there should be no problem. Am I right?

Thanks,

Not according to the instructions that I have;

Bei weiterer Verwendung einer Visco-Kupplung, AlIrad nur bei
stehendem Fahrzeug zuschalten

which translates to "no"!
The German insturction is very conservative to eliminate the possibility
of engaging 4WD in case the
VC is active, ie engaged due to differential wheel spin (eg going around
a bend or corner).
Andy's assumption is correct -

"My logic says that as long as all wheels are travelling at the sam
rpm's, there should be no problem."

My decoupler is from SA, designed to the original Styer-Puch specs. I engage it
on the run making sure that the vehicle is traveling in a st line and is on a firm
surface. It is important however to press the clutch in (to eliminate any preload
on the decoupler slider) and then activate the decoupler.
