Engine runs rich

Hi Greg,

Thanks. You have done a fantastic job fine tuning my AFM. The Van runs so much better - no more stalling for now.

Considering the Idle Stabiliser isn't working, it is amazing. However I still would like to get it sorted.

I checked all the wiring from the Control unit for continuity - they all ok.

What I would like to, since we know the valve is working, plug in your control unit and see if that makes a difference.

What do you say? The one I  bought is obviously not up for the job.

Cheers,

Theo

Sure Theo. Mine is easy to get out because I don't have that plastic cover fitted. We can just drop your tail light out when you get here. Looks like being after 1pm on Sat if that suits. Greg

Greg E.

I finally got the relay from a wrecker, none of the dealers had any - N/A. Even tried e-bay but it was the wrong one and got my money back.

So what I'm asking  is could you spare some time? By the way, the van starts stalling again.

Cheers

Theo

Theo, I am all booked up right up to DOTVW. Maybe we could have a look at it on the day?

Hi all, my van is having the same issues. Been cleaning up the van for a trip away, thought at first I got some moisture into a sensor somewhere, but the issues persist. I’ve read a couple of old posts, but not sure if anyone has suggestions.

Van starts fine, but even from cold runs rich. As it warms up, get some black smoke from the exhaust while driving. Once the engine has warmed up, the engine suns very rough, low on power, and does not idle well.

So far, have disconnected/cleaned/refitted all connectors. Checked throttle body, switch on throttle body, AFM seems in spec (and have replaced with a good spare), checked temp2 sender, seems in spec (confirming air cleaner is good, was serviced 6mths ago etc)

Not quite sure where to go next. I plan to re-check all grounds, re-check fuel rail pressure. Have not checked injectors or O2 sensor (have not done this before, so not sure on the process)

Any help appreciated

Richard

I’m in Brisbane, have not had a mechanic for quite a few years, so not sure if anyone still uses a local mechanic regularly?

Hi Richard. That is very frustrating. Only extra thing I could suggest is to try swapping the ECU. cheers, Peter
