Flipping amazing: The Ecco is the campervan of the future | The Australian

Apparently this is what we'll be driving around in, not 2wd or syncro 4wd but 3 wheel drive flip top electric campers.

Paul,

I will order one as soon as they offer 1000kg payload, 2000kg trailer capacity, 70% hill climbing ability, 300mm ground clearance, 400mm wading depth, a driver’s eye-line at least 50% higher than the model illustrated and adequate kangaroo impact protection.

I had to laugh: it looks like an electric razor on wheels (albeit a very stylish one)! You sure wouldn't want to hit a wombat (or even a potoroo) in that thing.

Hi All,

It would be difficult to get more than a 100mm of wheel travel with those huge front wheels. You can tell it's been designed by architects not engineers.
I like the flip top though, making a t3 camper top that revolves around the long edge opposite the side door makes sense to me.

Paul,

Most of the Trakka campers came with a sail track along LH side into which an awning fed, which provided cover for nearly the full length of the vehicle and about the same width.   There is a brochure on the website.  It works very well.
