Fully Sync-2007 report

Well what can I say, I have just returned from the Fully Sync
tour 2007, and the count was 13 vans and 29 people. To wake up each
morning surrounded by Syncros and the great bunch of people who
share the passion, words can not describe. For me personally it was
a long time dream to get just Syncro owners together and it will be
a trip that I will never forget and went far beyond my
expectations.

I always knew that these vehicles were special but, what I have
seen and took part in, there is no lesser words then AWESOME and
UNBELIEVABLE. We literally pushed these beasts to the extreme limits
and other than scratches and a couple of attendees discovering that
there viscous coupling were not functioning the way it was designed
left many of us were speechless with some of the terrain we
covered.

As pictures speaks a thousand words and as all the photos are
being sent (hundreds of them)to me, and with Mark's help will be
compiled into a viewing file for all to enjoy. I have up loaded a
few samples to the photo file just to give a taste of what is to
come.

All the other attendees, will report there own view and
experiences as time goes on I am sure and I hope all those who
attended enjoyed themselves, and a special thanks to Peter for all
the guiding that he arranged.

For the attendees as discussed, I await your photos and the
address will be sent direct to you all.
Best Regards
Rick
"Fully Sync Tour 2007"
Some if not all had assumed that I had done these routes before in
the Syncro. I didn't let on until much later that it was only on a
motor bike and even then the bikes had a lot of trouble. I was just
quietly a bit apprehensive as to how well the Syncros & drivers
would handle the terrain. After sliding down a 45 degree incline,
having my back wheel high in the air negotiating a deep trench,
feeling the solid jolt as the front bumper bit into the track
bending it and my number plate in halves and sending every loose
piece of equipment crashing to the front, I was relieved to make it
through in one piece. I have done a lot of off road stuff, but this
at times felt almost `life threatening'!!

PK's account Day1:
The original idea was to start out on the `easy' stuff gradually
building up our confidence and skills. It almost went to planÂ…

Easy 1st gear accent to Mogood lookout. (See picture `T3's Enjoying
the view') Great scenery looking north to the Castle & Pidgeon House
Mt. Lots of pictures taken. Some made a note of the hard way up to
the lookout, "hmm I wonder if it is possible to go that way?" That's
another story.
The descent down from Mogood to the river by Cattlemans fire trail
gradually got steeper. A few sections required G gear and some
braking. At that time a few of us exceeded our past experience and
it was a huge achievement to reach the river. We had a cuppa and
sandwich and rinsed off the dust.
The original plan was to go back the same way, however someone
suggested (was it me?) we do a previously untested route back to the
top via Penders fire trail. I was out front (GPS in one hand) and
did not know what was ahead. It was all fairly easy until just after
we crossed back over the river. I looked up at the track and
thought "sheeeet this is going to be fun!" It was our first taste of
a very steep rough & rocky accent. I pulled out the switches,
changed into G, revved up the WBX "Leonie...hang on!"
I made it up, pulled over and ran back down to watch the action.
(See picture Bruce_0 (coming soon))
My heart was in my throat at this first real challenge. The Syncros
walked, slid, skipped and jumped there way up. Some may have wished
they had a diflock, others at that stage didn't know that there VC
was faulty. Most made it look easy picking the perfect line missing
the ruts & boulders and we all made it up eventually.

Campfire, cold beer, glass of wine, another glass of wine, I was
happy!

Day 2 was a circuit past the old gold mine. I'll give someone else a
chance to tell that story. (See picture `Good VC test'). That wheel
must be over half a meter above the ground!
