Fuse and Assorted Stuff.

Joaquim - maybe I sent something to you instead of Southernvan. Sorry!
I will send out/put up photos when I get this carrier made. A member
of the guys family is ill I am told so I'm not sure when he can
start. I'll keep you informed.
Scott, as you look at the fuse box the fuse you are after is 12th one
from the left hand side (15 A). Sounds like a good trip you had on
Moreton Is. You are more than welcome to come down and share some of
our waves (and sand tracks). The sharks seem to like blood from out
of town so you'll have to be careful!!!
Joaqin I have thought about the solid shaft option, and for deep sand
work, I don't think it can be beaten but I also spend a lot of time
on gravel roads at anywhere between 60 to 100 kph, and for this,
having the bus run as it was designed can not be beaten. As was
discussed a couple of weeks ago, each person needs to make a
judgement on what kind of set up they want, according to the uses of
their bus. If only I could have a 2wd for highway cruising, a VC for
the gravel stuff AND a solid shaft for the beach/soft sand work. That
may be asking a bit much though!
Scott my conversion is progressing, albeit slowly. The engine is at a
local mechanics getting the exhaust made up at present. I have made
up the engine (ie. lower)part of the crossmember.
I will not be pulling out the old engine until after the June long
weekend as we're off on a trip to Mt. Finke, near Tarcoola and
although I could take my company Kluger, I'd much rather pay for my
own fuel, take the Syncro and have a whole load of fun!

Cheers,
Andy.

i'm the one to say sorry, i think i misunderstood the mail to southernvan unfortunately...
thank you once again for letting us know when the results of the carrier are going to be on display

yep, absolutely right. when we had our syncro cross the sandover highway and the
tanami road (one covered with a layer of soft sand and the other filled with corrugation) we really loved the vc-system. it was (is) very reliable in these kind of terrains and we reckon we will definitely miss the vc-system when we want to travel such kind of roads again.

friendly regards from germany

Andy,

Thanks for the heads up as to the power mirror fuse. I'll have a look
for it again over the weekend. I have run through all of the fuses
before and tested them and all seemed O.K but my power mirrors and
windows have been a retrofit from an American with that spec and hence
the buggers could have done anything. At least they used authentic
German made VW parts, just not sure about the wiring.

Has anyone else had power mirrors suddenly stop and if so, what was the
diagnosis?

Thanks for all the help.

P.S - Andy, A mate of mine from Uni went down for a surf trip and after
one of the surfs he climbed up to the carpark, took a phot of the waves
he was getting and noted the 20 foot noah swimming around right where he
was sitting. Seems the sharks are getting a little slow in their old
age.

Regards,

Scott

Andy,
Any chance of you putting up a plan or rough drawing of your
planned spare wheel carrier? If so I might put one together next
week in case your guy cant do one for awhile.

Chris.
