Fw: Re: [Adventurewagen] Re: *Still* thinking of buying the 1983 :)

Sorry if on posting these US contributions is boring people but this was a response to someone questioning whether to pump money into T3 camper that needed work.Perhaps it will inspire those of us who have down times with our own vehicles. There is no mention of it being a Syncro so you can at least double the smile factor if it is.
Cheers

I own too many vehicles of all sorts.  Of the ones with 4 wheels or more my favorite is the Vanagon an 86 AW.  It makes me smile to drive and is very versitle.  I sold my Motorhome and use my VWAW as a daily driver and as an RV.  It is fun to drive, easy to park and has good vis.  What can you buy new for any price that will do what a Vanagon camper of any kind will.  The insurance is cheap as are the taxes.  The resale is good and there are unlimited upgrades available.  I am lucky to have the dealer installed Behr front and rear air.  I hear less than 1 in 100 have it.  There are several options to consider with AC and seeing that you have it allready then you are not starting from scratch.  If you want 40 mpg's or 100 mph's then you will need more than one car and have to stay in a tent or hotel.  If you can drive a bit slower you can pay for the gas with the money you save on hotels and car payments and insurance.  Spend your money on your Vanagon and enjoy every mile of it.  I would not sell mine for 25k cash yesterday or 40k today maybe 50 tomorrow but I would cry.  I have had around 100 vehicles over the years and the only ones I have enjoyed as much as the VWAW are the Trihawk, BMW motorcycles, and the airplanes ( none of which could be slept in.)

Nice description below - I don't think many would sell their Syncros it seems - particularly if nicely fitted out.
