Fw: Rover trail photos & VW Magazine

-

Having previously sent these after returning from Valla I got these returned yesterday as undeliverable. Am therefore trying again using reduced size files.
The last 2 pictures were either taken by Jacko or the younger of the 2 German Tourists that joined us for the track ride. These pictures were taken on the alternative route back . Neil achieved it in his T2 with its oversized mudplugger tyres and limited slip diff but I had some ground clearance problems (look at the depth of the ruts)  before successfully ascending. Thanks you to those who toiled in the heat to remove the larger rocks. If you look at the angle of the chassis I reckon it was approaching 45degrees plus I was  on  on- road tyres. When I got home I realised it had flattened in the bottom of the exit circle of my tail pipe so I guess it was fairly demanding terrain.
I look forward to  the VW Article when it appears. Please keep us all posted if anyone learns more. If people would like more Valla images including some video I'll perservere to reduce them to an acceptable size. (But the Tassie trip organisation and painting my house has to take priority.)

Hi Roger. Would you be able to post these photos under the 'photos section' on our register. I can't open them as they are and under the photos section they would be easily accessable for future reference.
The article titled 'DAKS ON ROVER' will be printed in vw magazine. Jacko sent the final info off yesterday. Not sure if it will make the next issue but will keep you all informed.
Max (my son) and i were up on rover last weekend in his jeep wrangler and had three goes at the alternative route and only just got up it. We're scouting the 2014 route if anyone interested. Valla 2014 is 30th anniversary of VALLA and the 20th valla(as only held every second year in recent times) The Pells are considering an extended event to celebrate. If so i would moot the idea of an overnight syncro adventure by a river in the mountains. Interested? Bill
Very interested Bill/Marg, please book me in with Tristar, can't wait for the mag to come.
Thank you for all your work! It is on the calendar as an biannul event I hope.  Hart

Bill,

I am keen.

I can leave the family in a cabin for the night with my air-cooled bus and come along in the syncro.

Sounds fantastic.

Cheers,

Skot

Dear Bill,
Have now posted the pictures to the 'photo section' of our forum under "Rover Trail 2012"
pleasing to hear that it was also a struggle for a Jeep. I'll try to post  further Valla pictures to this section soon but if  trying to keep a 20 yo Syncro respectable is enjoyable then you can understand the challenge of trying to give my 120 yo house an oil change, grease and a good tinkering with at the moment.
I like your idea of an overnight syncro adventure by a river for 2014. Will 4 motions be eligible?
Thanks again for opening us up to the thoroughly enjoyable and well catered for extra curricula activities whilst altogether at Valla this year.
