Fw: [Syncro] oettinger wbx6

Thanks, Christoph, I was sure that you would have something in your history files.

Since this query originated on the American Syncro site, you might have to provide some translations.

I am copying this on to the SA and Australian sites because they would certainly be interested.

Good morning,

there were several productions. We had the Porsche B32 (~9 pieces),
the Claer Buses (46 pieces) and the Oettinger (? pieces)conversions.

The Porsche and Claer used 6zylinder Porsche engines. The Oettinger
6zylinder engines were first developed by Volkswagen and were finished
by Oettinger, they're different from the Porsche engines.

I don't speak any German really, but I have been driving VW's for long
enough to have picked up on a few relevant words, and if I am not
mistaken the bus described here
http://www.autoweibel.ch/de/specialcars/galerie/Porsche_Carrera_Bus/ind
ex.php
and labelled VW Bus Pickup Kurz seems to me to be a Syncro (VIN
WV2ZZZ24ZMG016395 - the three Z's indicate a Syncro I believe???) and
looks as if it is to have midmounted Audi 4.2 litre V8 put into it
along with a 6 speed gearbox.
Not for the purists of course but I wonder if it will remain a "Syncro"
ie will it still be a 4x4 when finished?
It would certainly be an interesting vehicle to experience!

Cheers,

Andy.
Hi Andy,

from 1990 on in Graz "G" were buildt 4WD and 2WD buses. It's possible
that this car is not a syncro.

Christoph

WV2=VW Germany commercial vehicle
ZZZ=filler (no meaning)
24=Model type
Z=filler
M=1991 model
G=Made in Graz, Austria.
Christoph and Phil,

thanks for setting me straight.

Andy.
