FW: [Syncro_T3_Australia] Re: T3 Syncro Camper For sale on ..... eBay.

Hartmut,
Not long ago I was the bunny stuck with deciding whether or not to tow my sons cactus Mazda 626 on a car trailer pulled by the Syncro from Gosford to Sydney .... thinking why not do it myself for "peanuts"!
Anyone seen the typical old monstrous deadweight hire car trailer, often with defective/no tie downs/retainers and tail lights?
I also probably would have wrecked the syncro in the process.
Sanity prevailed and we had a truck float it down. Cost $250.
So no, I wouldn't car trailer it without a really capable tow vehicle that can safely pull the combined weight up hill and down dale from Nimbin to Port. Forget the Tristar.
Good luck.
Ken

Yip My sentiments too, had a look at Kennards they hire a 3/4 dead trailer
max weight 1200 kg!!!
I might get a better one but we would pull it with a V8 Holden (holden the
country together),but I will also get some more quotes from car carriers,
Trouble is that Nimbin is a bit out of the way. Hart

But Ken,

Hart previously lugged 3 tonnes around behind the tristar before he even
upgraded the brakes.

At least the tristar will stop the little road train.

My 71 low-light kombi which weighs around 1200kgs was towed by a 2wd T3 on a
car trailer (with similar qualities to which you speak of from hire
companies) all the way from Sawtell (just south of Coffs Harbour) to the
Central Coast in the middle of summer.

At least the weather is cool now.

Give it a go Hart.

No worries!

Cheers,

Scott

Scott,
Surprised you asked really.

Zip ties. But you need the longer ones available from Repco.

At a pinch, you could do it for peanuts by borrowing say 50 of the 365000 zip ties that hold together the underside guts of every Syncro and chain them together to make up the requisite lengths. Too easy.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.
Ken
