I think he needs a long range tank and a better fuel gauge.

Classic! :-))))

Ken,

I am having massive computer problems at the moment and can’t fix them until after the DOTVW is past.  One of the problems is that I can’t open email links and I don’t know what is being discussed.  Could you give me a quick description of it?

As Tom says, people with dementia own syncros. So if we had a reality
check we would all go and do what Brian has done - a new
T5 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bruce

I nearly bought  T5 but was told they have gearbox problems…….is that a known fact or just rumors from the Toyota club? J

After deciding not to go T5 I spend about 15k on my T3 which is not a Syncro ( wish it was) but still beautiful to drive, It is a 82 aircooled and will never leave this house I just love the car. I got a Landcruiser and a BMW but when I need to go somewhere the T3 is choice number one.

Have a good weekend everybody and I hope les is getting his computer sorted……..no fun at all

Cheers

Reiner

Hi Reiner,

I use this site for T5 info. http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/forum/forum15.html . Like most fora you seem to get a high proportion of people talking about things going wrong, but I don't recall gearbox's being a regular issue. Overall, I think the consensus is that the VW, while it has some troubles, is better than pretty much all the contemporary competition. Like all modern vehicles, they are pretty complicated things, and not easy to fix yourself when things go wrong, but I guess that's the price you pay for all the nice amenities.

Maybe it's time to start saving for the new update model. Rumour has it that these will be available with a 7 speed DSG box in combination with 4 motion. Imagine then, a modification for the box with lower gearing overall and an ultra-low 1st gear (and the software set to start in 2nd unless 1st is selected), a suspension lift, big tyres, and some underbody protection. And imagine really hard for the Tattslotto winning numbers.

Les,
Too easy. Consult your IT Administrator, he'll reinstall your specially configured OS from his previously saved OS image file ... you'll be up and running again flawlessly in say ... umm ... 20 minutes.
Cheers.

Gday Bruce,
In my view, Tom seems to have a clue about at least 2 things.
1. Where to insert the ignition key.
2. Where to pour in the gas .... if he can find any.
That's it.

He's got a lot of catching up to do.
