Fwd: re cut ring&pinion to allow subie transaxle install

Sounds like an interesting new product which can help in the near and far future when T3 Transmissions are no longer available and/or become unaffordable. It looks like there is an agent in OZ.

I just saw this on the Brickyard forum

"Welcome to the Dynamic Distributions Homepage.
We make a reverse-cut crownwheel & pinion to suit Subaru 4wd transaxles and ship them all over the world.

These transaxles can be used with rear-mounted Subaru engines to create a number of different drivelines, for example :
· 4wd VW type 1 beetle (torsion bar cutting required)

· 2wd VW type 1 beetle (no torsion bar cutting required)

· Replace the VW driveline in a 4WD Syncro

· Convert a 2WD Syncro to 4WD and replace the VW driveline."

Wow that is certainly very ingenious, plenty of those transmissions around but imagine the nightmare of getting the gear linkages to work when the subaru box is way up the back of a T3.

We have a Forester and it is a great driveline but the low range isn't very low plus no locking diffs...

Hmm

I actually saw this same thing on the aussieveedubbers site the other day and it sounds like it may be a way to keep a syncro going whilst a replacement proper syncro gearbox is sourced. I think it was an Australian selling them but I didn't look too closely.
