My eta for fire up will be in next 6 months.

The engine is 1000  km away at my holiday home at Bribie so its a slow project.

I haves business in mackay and its hard to leave it.

Onmy last holiday it took me 8 days to work our what was stopping the engine to fire up and then once sorted I  removed the engine engine and dsg gearbox. I have a copy of a solid works cad file from a guy in the USA who fitted a 2.8 into a doka. I am going to get it profile cut and fabricated and then on my next holidays I shall make up a custom exhaust my self around the mount. The adapter plate from Sherman requires modification as its designed for a 2.8 vr6. I also need to get a Mk4 ecu reflashed to remove the immobiliser, and and air bag functionality in the states. Additionally the thermostat will require remote relocation to clear the fire wall and also the engine lid will require a raised section.

That's why I'm planning aprox 12 months for my Kimberly trip.

Still trying to sort out my 24 v solar set up too.

Hamish

Then I will drive with my current gear box and then rudi shall rebuild it with my desired 3/4 gear ratios ect.

Hi Alf,
My plan is to go to an Subie EJ25, hopefully in the next 12 months. Not sure, but I prefer to stay with the original. Not aware of any need to change. Cheers, Bruce.

What's your fuel economy like with the VR6 (I am assuming it's the 2.8L VR6 from a '90's Golf)? How does it fit in the engine bay & under the hatch? How does it go with the Syncro gearing or have you got higher 3rd &/or 4th to suit? > Cheers, Bruce. > > --- In mailto:Syncro_T3_Australia%40yahoogroups.com, HamishD dobson_hamish@ wrote: > > > > Paul muller is the specific man who persuaded me to switch to a vr6. > > He's done a few now > > He quoted aprox 13k drive in and drive away. > > > > Sent from my iPhone > > > > On 13/06/2013, at 2:37 PM, Hartmut hartis@ wrote: > > > > > > > > > > > Heh Guys, happy that there are still fellas around the sort of Paul M. and why would I change my beautiful MV for something else ??
