Hi all,

Not long back from our two-week trip in NW Tasmania. Our syncro went
well! There was an initial hiccup though: syncros apparently get
seasick! Well, at least there seemed to be a fuel-supply problem for
the first day or so with the syncro jerking and carrying on when Tony
put his foot on the accelerator. Fortunately, as soon as we headed for
the hills this resolved itself and she purred along for the rest of
the trip. Curious! It had been a rough crossing (with a 3m swell) and
Tony fared considerably worse than the syncro....

I've attached some photos of our syncro in some exotic locations, as
promised. See if you can identify Rocky Cape National Park, the Nut at
Stanley, the Western Explorer Highway through the wild Tarkine, and
syncro luxuriating beneath a rainbow in Mt Roland's lee. Hope some of
you are interested! My Tony is a photographer, so, with a bit of luck,
they're better than your average snaps. I can highly recommend a tour
of Tassie - what a beautiful place, and history still resonates
powerfully there. The only problem is those ubiquitous hills. I
thought enviously of Subaru implants as we ground around in second
gear.

Oh, one other minor annoyance. The sliding door is on the blink. What
experience do others have with this?

Cheers,

Francesca.

Francesca,

What is the sliding door doing/not doing?  The door has a catch at the front and at the back.  The rear catch has to disengage first before the door can be opened.  This sometimes gets out of adjustment.

Hi Les,

The catch at the front doesn't reliably spring back into place. The
problem is both in getting the door to close properly and in getting
it to lock open once fully rolled back. We had one hairy incident of
the door sliding open while driving along.

Hi Francesca

These are fantastic Australian Images of the Syncro.

Will add them to the collection!

Gday Francesca,

Tasmania is on my priority list to ferry the syncro across to ... if and
after my other half finally decides to retire! I live in hope.

I raised the issue of Tasmania several years ago as a destination for a
syncro tour, regrettably it has not yet come off and people like
yourself do the solo trip over and so would probably then be lost from a
potential group tour.

Very pleased all went well and Tassie lived up to expectations except
for the totoise-like climbs up hills. In my humble view, just stick with
it, anyway you get to see the scenery better at a slower pace and is
safer anyway. Staying original (without necessarily being puritanical)
over the long term is less problematic and less expensive. I considered
dabbling in a Subaro transplant but on balance, decided against it for
many reasons.

I had trouble with the hold-open keeper of the sliding door ... not sure
if that is your problem. It gets stressed and distorted due to over
enthusiastic people sliding the door open too hard, damaging the hold
open keeper and enclosure.

Cheers.

Ken

Hi Michael

the photos have been prepared and will be posted very shortly. We are about to launch some nice Syncro Galleries (Syncro Porn?!)

If you have any good photos of any Syncros in Australia please send them to me on markkofahl@gmail.com

Kind Regards
Mark.

Thanks, all, for your comments on the photos (I'll pass on any
compliments to Tony). Perhaps photographing syncros in exotic
locations will become a new hobby for him!

Ken's right that a Tassie syncro tour would be a winner - it has to be
just about the best touring destination in Aus. I couldn't believe the
number of campervans on the road down there. Saw no other syncros,
needless to say, but a couple of very nice T3 campervans. Our boys had
a wonderful holiday. Now, if either Tony or I could just land a job
down there.....

I liked your balanced comments about living with the innate
characteristics of syncros, Ken. Tassie is definitely the kind of
place to take slowly, in any case.

Francesca.

Michael,

The usual answer by way of a question to your photo viewing issue is
...... are you trying to view the photos attached to posts on the syncro
forum website? If so then no ...... no one can view them that way. You
can only view/download/save these attached photos from your own email
facility, be it at hotmail, gmail, yahoo or whatever you normally use.
Of course the syncro posts and any attachments can only end up in your
own email facility if you have first elected to have these posts sent to
your own email facility .... you nominate to do that in the yahoo forum
preferences for your membership.

Now if that isn't your problem ........ then no ... I have no other
ideas ........ is this some weird Mac issue?

Cheers.

Ken

Sorry for the last post folks. Seems I'm hitting the wrong 'reply' button. What I meant to say in that post was thank you Ken in regard to viewing photo's. Like my last post, I trying to view and reply thru the Syncro Forum. Slowly slowly catch monkey, I think I'm getting on top on the issue. How does one log onto this new Aussie site everyone is so excited about? Once again thanks Ken.
Regards

Michael

Sorry for the last post folks. Seems I'm hitting the wrong 'reply' button. What I meant to say in that post was thank you Ken in regard to viewing photo's. Like my last post, I trying to view and reply  thru the Syncro Forum. Slowly slowly catch monkey, I think I'm getting on top on the issue. How does one log onto this new Aussie site everyone is so excited about? Once again thanks Ken.

Regards

Michael
