G11 coolant.

Hi All,
I've been trying to get some G11 coolant but none so far have it. I got my girlfriend onto the task while I'm at work and some guy at a vw service centre just sold her some blue BMW coolant telling her they don't make G11 anymore and the stuff he sold her is the same. Is this true? If not where in Sydney do you guys get yours?
Thanks,
Roger S

I use the BMW coolant. I can't say for sure if it is the same as g11, but it smells and looks the same (technical I know). It says it is nitrite free where as the vw stuff said phosphate free. If you want some the part number is 81 22 9 407 454 for 1500ml. Greg E

G11, G12+, etc are specifications not brands and are sold by various car companies but would not vary between car companies.  I would expect that there would be only one or two suppliers who package the same product for various car companies.  In respect of quality, BMW would be exacting.  I have used BMW branded G11 in the past.

Thanks Greg,
That sounds like the stuff but I'll know for sure when I get home. I read through quite a few of the old coolant threads here but was yet to come across a reference to the BMW stuff.
As an aside, it is interesting about one being nitrite free and the other being phosphate free. I wonder if that is an engine or marine/freshwater pollutant based omission?
Anyway thanks for the info,
Roger,

Thanks.

Thanks Les, I was getting a bit confused. To be honest, for better or worse I never paid that much attention with my Camry...probably worse from what I've been reading in the threads.
