recently . The quotes range from 2500 to 3500 . Looking for tips on any
aspects of conversion

I've had gas on my Syncro for nearly 10 years now.
If I recall it cost about $1600 - 1800 then. Has been generally trouble
free, but if it is not tuned right it can backfire and potentially damage the
airflow meter or air filter housing. I'm told the new injected gas systems
avoid this, and would be worth the extra expense in my view.

I ran my Syncro on LPG for 4 years and did 30000 odd miles until I swapped the VW engine
for a Subaru.
With one exception I had no problems. It ran well, I noticed very little difference in
performance when compared with petrol and as we all know, our Syncro's are not cheap
vehicles to run.
The one problem I had (as already mentioned on the previous post) was a ruined AFM due
to backfiring.
The new engine (2003 EJ25) is much more difficult to fool and so I have been unable to get
it running on LPG using the LPG computer used previously to run the old venturi type
induction system.
Luckily, I have been waiting a few months before comitting the money to have a sequential
injection system fitted, and now the Fed. Govt. are going to help me out! Yippee. I already
have the van booked in!!
This injection system is supposed to be much much better. No inlet manifold full of fuel,
just waiting to backfire. No restricted air intake needed to create the vetnuri effect and
therefore no loss in power. There may even be a slight increase due to the higher octane
of LPG but I'm not certain on that one yet as I don't know if it is a 'complete' engine
management system that can alter the timing as well but it doesn't matter (to me) of
course with more than enough ponies already available.
Considerably reduced harmful emissions is of course another benefit as are much cleaner
spark plugs. Some people say you don't need to change the oil as often either but even
though it does stay very much cleaner, I still change mine at the specified intervals.
