Gear box selector nut

Hey Guys,...Have just had to tighten my selector nut <last nut on selector shaft as it conects to gearbox> Was not finding first without depressing gearstick slightly. Had same problem two years ago, it appears that the nut comes loose during heavy gearchanges done by people not used to the floorshift. Both times i had lent the syncro to non vw drivers?? Has anyone else had to tighten this nut as it seems to be an issue with my syncro when it is in beginners hands??
Just replacing muffler with a german one has anyone else had theirs replaced if so what did muffler cost? Regards Pete
PS nobody likes a gas tank in the spare wheel carrier idear it seems?

Pete,

I think that I remember some correspondence on the SyncroSA group about this but I haven’t got time at the moment to dig it out.

Les

Yes Les,
They do make an LPG tank in this shape <spare tyre shape> and i just thought maybe a front wheel carrier for the spare for some added strength to the nose.Maybe then a smaller auxil gas tank under the sliding door or under the seat may give you some extra range?

Pete,

The Syncro needs as much air as it can get for adequate flow through the radiator during our summers.  The better place for the spare, if not stowed in the original position, is at the back using one of the several very good rear racks.
