Gearbox parts

Hi everyone and happy new year.

My syncro gearbox is now stripped and I am looking to price up the parts I need, so wondered if anyone here has a recommendation for suppliers? I’m going to look in Germany, the UK and the US, but would appreciate any leads if anyone has already been through this.

I will be needing 4th gear, both 1/2 and 3/4 shift forks, and the main ballbearings (apart from main shaft) and seals and gaskets.

Thanks in advance!
Gaetan
Mark at weddle in the states.

Agree with Peter.

Weddle carry quality stuff.

Cheers,

Scott

Hey it looked like a great spot until the storm came through that night !

Heading across the Nullarbor soon keep an eye out for a WA syncro if you're in Vic.

Hi Gaëtan, while you are at it do check the syncro rings with a magnifier.
I could re-use 2, the rest had hairline cracks.
Best of luck with the rebuilt.

Most of my parts are coming from german transaxle in the states.
The fellow running it (Paul Guard) used to own guards transmission who makes the gears for the GT cup cars in the states. He now exclusively makes vanagon parts including HD gears, synchro hubs, mainshafts and gearcarriers which leave the weddle stuff in the dust.
You,ll find his contact details and some of his wears on the Samba classifieds

Hi Nils,

Do you know for sure that he manufactures the gears or does he just resell Weddle parts?
Not much info on their website about that,

Neil.

Hi Neil,
Definitely not Weddle.
For an idea of what Paul Guard is spearheading/guiding in USA and his relationship with GT Gears, US gear manufacturer, Pauls following thread should prove self explanatory and enlightening:
Cheers.

The need for higher quality transaxle parts has become painfully apparent to many in the Syncro community, especially to guys like myself with overpowered and overloaded Westfalias.
