Gearbox specialist in Perth needed

Hi Folks,

I will try and book tomorrow on what they referred to as gently sloping sites for 6 vans which are keen at the moment.

Im sure a couple of extras could squeeze in.

Cheers,

Scott

Rhonda the park manager wants names and numbers (as best possible) for the camp. She has confirmed we can have 3 sites so we can all fit with awnings etc.

Please confirm if you are in tonight - dont want to kiss out.

Hi Scott,
Sorry for my late response. Just back from The Eagles concert. Awesome!

Count me in. Going solo... of course!

I think not all members check the forum every day, hence late responses. Happy to phone them direct tomorrow to check.... Peter K, Peter C, Roger B.

Also for your expenses/booking costs to date, we need to reimburse you up front, here and now... to be fair on you. Say min. $50 per each adult and sort remainder after we arrive? Need to see commitment.
Cheers.
Ken

Hi Syncro Adventure attendees,

Rhonda from the campsite gave me some options regarding outings etc - see below:

The properties surrounding us are all privately owned but there are some state forests a short drive away, eg dingo tops, tappin tops etc. I usually have cartoscope maps for around here but I have run out, if you have a chance see if you can pop into an information centre and pick a couple up, they are quite good and we can give you directions when you are here. There is a good tourist loop, that takes in Ellenborough Falls, Blue Knob lookout, Dingo Tops etc which is a good days drive if you stop to look at everything.

Time to check out google maps.

Cheers,

Scott

Hi Scott and ALL,
Sounds great and looking forward to this chance for a catchup and syncro tagalong.

With one reservation to consider.

Last chance for maximum refuel before heading to Knorrit Flat and excursions beyond would be Wingham.

By far the issue of greatest concern if exploring the west, north west and north beyond Knorrit Flat over say two excursions over two days to areas suggested by campground operator, would be the inherant difficulty of resupply of fuel. I doubt that the camground can resupply fuel.

These areas are remote. Closest refuel I can think of off the bat MAY be north at tiny community of ELAN at its tiny general store near Ellenborough Falls, where at least 3 of our group have already visited previously more than once. Failing that, have to then travel back to Comboyne to refuel. Or else, travel back from remote location back thru Knorritt Flat to Wingham for resupply.

Both scenarios may prove problematic, especially for syncros without extra fuel capacity onboard. Anxiety really does set in when fuel guage is down to a quarter.

I'm thinking our agenda roughly needs a mix of relax time at Knorrit Flat campground where we can catch up and jump in the river plus one only longish or two short explore tagalong trips. Two or more longish tagalong trips without refuel is a risky stretch.

Thoughts anyone?

Cheers.
Ken

Sounds good Ken.

I've been looking at the maps to find a suitable re-fuelling location as well.

They are not the most economical vehicles.

Knorrit Flat is extremely unlikely to have fuel.

I'm sure we will work it out. Might be worth bringing a 20L fuel container along...

Cheers,

Scott

Adventurers,

Attached is a PDF map of Knorrit Flat with a round trip to the nearby National park and the time of travel around each leg.

Lots of other alternatives but Wingham seems to be the closest for reliable refuelling.

Yeah so when push comes to shove, the limits of a group exploring distance and return is limited to the particular vehicle that has left in the tank, the least amount of fuel!

I  suspect that just might be ME! HA! 😭 😢 🙏

Just checked my old NRMA map and discovered I'd unknowingly driven past Knorrit Flat campground back in October 2007!

I was on a week long solo discovery trip after the October 2007 Long Weekend Old Bar VW Festival. Travelled via Harrington, Upper Lansdowne, Comboyne, Elands, Ellenborough Falls, Dingo Tops NP, Knorritt Flat, Gloucester, Bulahdelah and back to Seal Rocks. Not quite a complete circle. Nice scenic trip through remote National Parks, State Forests, fence free valleys, dirt and bitumen. Nearly twelve years later, should now tackle it in the reverse direction and see what I missed! HA!

Looks like a great trip, and nice tag along tour!
Have fun.

Hi Scott
Just back from o/s holiday to find this tantalising Syncro trip that you're organising.
If a lowly T5 is allowed to join in then count me in. Be an interesting comparison between the vehicles.

Cheers Graham

Adventurers,

Attached is a PDF map of Knorrit Flat with a round trip to the nearby National park and the time of travel around each leg.

Lots of other alternatives but Wingham seems to be the closest for reliable refuelling.

Cheers,

Cheers.

Cheers,

Scott
