Hi all,
my Syncro has been off the road for 3 months now, and my gearbox guy is not proving unreliable as he keeps putting on more delay even though he’s now had everything he needs for over two weeks.
I am looking for someone good with Syncro experience to re assemble my gearbox properly, it’s all in bits but all the parts, inc. new replacements, gaskets etc are there.
I know someone mentioned a retired local guy recently but can’t find that conversation.
Help? Trying to get my van back on the road for Munster 7..

Yes please - someone mentioned a retired local specialist to me recently but I can’t find that conversation.

Unfortunatly I dont have any recommendations on your side of the country. Ron Schmidt comes highly recommended and may be helping me out with mine if I get stuck. He is a race buggy gearbox builder, so knows his way around the bus box.
I will be back in April and my case is being sleeved right now. Don't forget me if you want to move on or hire those tools to me 😆

He stuffed my gearbox, stuffed Peter from Ports gearbox and Ben from
Sydney's gearbox leaked like a sieve when he installed it.
Steer well clear of Ronnie.
Nice guy but not good on syncro gearboxes.
Cheers,

Rudi is great and fixed my gearbox up beautifully.
However, Rudi injured himself late last year and apparently hasn't
been taking on any gearbox work since.
Look forward to Rudi's speedy recovery - we need him.
There is a bloke named Andrew (I think) in South Australia that
appears to know his way around a syncro box but I hear he is also
very expensive.
I can dig his details up if required.
Cheers,
Scott

My name is David Beckley I am an ex Syncro owner living in Perth. Re getting a gear box fixed in Perth: Patrick at Mosman Auto Care, 674 Stirling Hwy, Mosman Park WA 6012 (08) 9384 0231 is worth considering. Patrick is a VW trained mechanic and also a Syncro owner.
thank you for your message. I know of Patrick, thanks, he serviced my van for the previous owner.
I’m all good now as my gearbox guy in O’Connor is back on the job :)
Cheers

It will be NSW mid North Coast based but inland and I want to go from
Friday 12th April through to Monday April 15th. Its not too cold or hot
then (usually). This is just before Easter to avoid the massive crowds
and clogged highways.
Peter Coe (from Port) found a nice place inland which we shouldn't need
to book - just turn up.
Anyone interested?
Will try and get more details on the location and surrounds for syncro fun..
