Gearbox T3 Syncro

Hi all.
Anyone got a spare gearbox with diff lock for sale, I have a great Syncro stuck in the garage its a 1989 T3 done 170,000ks. I believe a 1990/91 boxes didn't have the 3rd/4th hub problem I am having. Or does any one want to talk gearbox talk or know a good site I may visit.
regards
Rick.

Rick,
if nothing else comes your way, searchthe web for Albins Gears in ( I
think - Les?) Ballarat in Victoria. They do a lot of VW boxes, are
familiar with the Syncro box and are the manufacturers of
the "elephant" gears that are occasionally mentioned in Syncro circles.
Good luck,
Andy.
Andy,

Albins Off-road Gears

Used and respected around the world, from everything that I read.

Thanks to Andy and Les,
The staff at Albins gears have been fantastic in giving advice and
the suppling details about of the gears I will be needing.
I was about to purchase the U beaut strengthend 3rd/4th hub from the
states and as it turns out they are made sure enough right here in
Australia at ALBINS gears. Next job when the time permits one gearbox
removal.
Thanks once again to all and that is why this web site and sites
like it are so excellent.
Cheers
Rick.

Rick,

This is the sort of thing I hoped to achieve by setting up a Syncro
website for Australian owners. It makes the effort well worthwhile.

Now I hope that the Victorian Syncro owners will turn out for the VW
Club of Victoria day at Scoresby on Sunday 17th! That will also make
it worthwhile.

Les,
Hey, I hope not just the Victorian SYNCRO owners are invited to the
show, I live in Sydney and am trying to come down for the show
(In my SYNCRO No 2 a TRAKKA camper) on that note I wonder if any
other Sydney SYNCRO owners who read this are planning to
go down to Scoresby?????
Regards
Rick.

Rick,

I would not presume to ask interstate Syncro owners to make a 1000km
trek just for a few hours at the VW Club of Victoria day at
Scoresby, but, if you made the trip, it would/should certainly give
some impetus to the Victorian owners to turn out.

There are at least two Trakka Syncros in Victoria - mine and Staurt
Parry's. (Mine is pictured on the home page of the Australian
website.) Three together would make agood picture and would get
published on our website.

I ordered 3rd and 4th gears from Albins and they have been sitting at the
mechanics in Brisbane since before Christmas. Haven't had a chance to get
there, but am booked in for the end of this month. So will let you know
how they go. Can't wait to get some lower revs for the TDI at 100km's.

Dear Les,
Just joined the group. We have a Syncro 91 T3 with a possible new
engine in the works (subaru 2l via Sony's Auto's in Wangarra WA). Last
time we spoke a year ago I had a VBX motor in pieces with major
problems (stud Deterioration). Nice to see the Syncro chat. As you know
we have a small bunch of keen Syncro drivers in Perth.

Phil,

Very glad to have you on the list. I believe that there are other
Syncro owners living near you. Please try to get them on the list
as well.

Hi all,
Just to give an update on my busted 1989 gearbox, box is out and
apart just as suspected 3/4th slider completely shattered. I have
uploaded to the photo file number 26. Albins new modified gear shown
next to the broken gear.
Cheers
Rick.
