gears shift repair

Ken,Graham and others interested,
Today I fitted my http://t3technique.com/ gear shift slippers.
I fitted them on the car, although the instructions stated otherwise.
They were easy to fit, they are stuck on with epoxy and a 4mm rivet, that goes through the exsisting holes.
I also replaced the rear gear shift linkage at the trans, as the locating splines had worn.
I have now replaced gear stick,ball-socket mechanism, and rear shift mechanism AND...I have a skull gear knob.
I have adjusted clutch pedal free-play.
The gear shift is now as good as it has ever been.Last week I replaced the bailey channels rubbers and window scrapers.
Good to have no wind noise in the cabin, might even stop Nicole winging.
Probably not, need a different car for that!!Maybe just get the AC sorted.Looking into that.
Almost ready for Christmas Holidays.
An engine service, relays on my headlights, new rear bumper bar fitted, bash bar back on,AC,few things painted, then off for another year.
Cant wait!

Oh,photos in my album.

Ben,

Were the bailey channels easy to fit?

Or a complete cow - like the bay window models?

Cheers,

Skot

Ben,
Just wondering ... if the 'slipper" width was to wear thinner (just as the originals did), the metal slipper rivets may again end up grinding against the black box metal guides.
Attached is a pic of my gear selector sliders, adhered to the metal fingers with JB Weld.

I'm also looking into renovating the a/c system ... I'm hoping it happens pre Xmas business shut down.

Hi Ben and all.
Pleased to hear that you had success with the gear shift slippers along with replacing numerous other components.
I have just finished a similar update including both clutch and brake hydraulics including entire gear shift mechanisms as you have done. The difference to gear changes is quite amazing, once across the gate the gears just jump into place instead of the old puddin' stirring.
My next project is a leaking power steering pump seal. I havent seen much info on the site.Has anyone replaced a pump recently?
Questions.
Where from?
How much?
What make?
New or exchange?

Info so far.  Two types in use.
From Peddars a new ' KYB' replacement cost $500 or a ZF (which I have) at $900.
A local rebuild at $650 (said it was a tricky rebuild using expensive parts!)
Or Auto Parts Warehouse (USA) one at $101.66 ( no name) or two others at 150.00 each with 3 month warranty.
Can anyone please help? Unable to find at our normal suppliers.
Ken was no help as he's happily tuning his biceps with his ginormous manual steering wheel.
Cheers Graham
