I was talking to an ambo driver yesterday and asked what make was his ambulance. Mercedes 2010 model he replied. Great vehicle he said but has a curious gremlin where it looses power and they have to pull over. Sit for a few minutes. Restart and all is good. Sound familiar? When i told him about our 20+ year old t3's that can have the same gremlin and that makes me feel better he said his Dad was a vw nut lived in sydney and had a syncro(or is it SYNCRO)with a broken gearbox. I told him about our group and he was very excited to tell his dad. I feel a new member coming on. Bill

In my previous life working for AT&T, we discovered the more 'advanced' the equipment, the more they suffered from electronic gremlins. Upon closer examination of the circuit boards under a microscope, there obvious microcracks which would intermittently open to create a faulty condition then subsequently close to hide it again. Said gremlins are ever present especially in automotive components.
A Vanagon Listmember went to the trouble of inspecting "defective" ECU's and ICU's from T3's. Lo and behold, microcracks were present in the solder. He remelted the solder and thereby "rebuilt" the ECU's.
BTW, I believe the proper way to write the name is syncrO.;-) Oh my.
