Hi to all, from new member

Hello everyone, my name is Rod; I'm new here and don't yet have a Syncro, but have full intentions to aquire one soon. I need to sell a couple of vehicles to make this happen, but in the mean-time am hoping for some good intel from people in the know, just what to aim for, pricing etc. At this stage; after speaking with a helpful bloke from western Aus, I know to go for power-steer, diff-locks, and high compression pistons. I know also, that I would prefer a window-less model, and do not need a pop-top. Any advice along the way, to give me a firmer idea of what models etc. to go for, and what kind of prices I will be looking at would be much appreciated. I am a van-man from way back, and am currently puttering around in a 1985 Mitsubishi L300 4wd van. I've had my eye on the Syncro's for a while now, and as soon as some cash comes my way, I'll be seriously after one.
regards Rod
Hi Rod,
Too bad about the lack of cash at the moment. This van for sale now mentioned here recently has you all over it ....

Pretty rare ex Telecom van & equipment combination.
Cheers.
Ken

Hi Rod,

No complete window less syncros (panel vans) were sold in Australia except the Telstras that had a window in the sliding door. High compression engines (DJ) were never sold here only the MV 70kw 2.1. Dual diff locks are rare but rear diff lock and power steer was standard on deluxe vans and Caravelles.

yeah, thanks Ken. I have had a few looks on-line at that van, and it does tick a few boxes for me. I'm just going to have to sell my Land Rover and Subaru, and then I'll have some fun. On that van, the viscous coupling that's been replaced with a solid shaft; is that the way to go?

Hi Rod,
Re Solid shaft vs VC, ... depends on your own perceived needs for the use of the van. There are many considerations one should weigh up  in coming to a decision either way, I'd suggest you read up on the topic, it's been covered here and elsewhere over many years.
I have a solid shaft by choice and prefer driving in 2WD mostly, reserving 4WD capability for occasions when I choose it and only on loose surfaces.
Cheers.
