This message is the result of a recent very widespread theft of email addresses. The Internet and many groups, particularly Yahoo groups, are currently being swamped with messages from this origin. The links are not harmful but the swamping is a pain!!!

Andres,
Rogue emails on the group website are, unfortunately, not infrequent. This has unpleasant side effects. Since everything goes through my PC, I am at constant exposure risk.
I will have a record of this incident but really don’t want to use time going back and looking for it at the moment.
In issuing the text below, I am simply alerting members to the fact that something got through, not accusing or reprimanding anyone.
It is poorly understood how this comes about. Take a web group of 1000 members. It needs only one member’s computer to be insecure to allow the addresses of the other 999 to be stolen. I have been on the Internet since it started and I have received spam from myself via this process!!!! I have no idea of how many times my address has been stolen.
The issue referred to below was more of a nuisance than a threat.

Andres,
No, it would not have come from your computer. Stolen email addresses are big business and are used by remote computers and servers to send out billions of spam emails every day. Once your address has been stolen, it has a life independent of your computer.
