HISTORIC MEETING

This afternoon in Melbourne, the two Syncros specially built by Volkswagen to compete in the 1990 Australian Safari met for the first time since the Safari.  It will probably also be the last time because the Transporter is owned by Yurik Orlowski in Perth and the double cab is owned by Mark Boys on Melbourne.  Yurik was in Melbourne for family reasons and made a point of getting the two vehicles together.

Hi Les

Wow - that is fantastic! Really great to have this happen. Excellent that a photo was taken.

Are there any more photos available?

Regards
Mark.

Mark,

Yes, there are more pics but they are each very large.  I will reduce them and put a folder on the website.

Mark,  has anybody thought of sending those pics on to Graham Lees? I am sure he would be thrilled , he drove the DK in the event at  the time. He also gave me the vehicle for a week to play with on our farm. Rollcage and 8 shocks were still in place and i do remember the rather uncomfortable ride. The truck did not receive the factory underbody waxcoating to allow for emergency weld repairs.

Let ninemsn property search for you. Need a new place to rent, share or buy?
That's a very significant story in the annals of Syncro history Les.
Unfortunately I can't open the photo attachment. Any suggestions. Look
forward to seeing it.

Gday Les,

Could you please send the large files to me also, a truly historical
event indeed. It's a credit to both present owners to see them both
again and in such pristine condition. Long may they be preserved and
preferably remain here.

Cheers.

You could always login to the yahoo site, I think Les has posted the images up there or is about to.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you Gary. Still having problems sorting this email business out. Have sent one to you earlier which I can't see as being posted, appears my Syncro_T3_ Australia yahoogroups emailing protocols are obviously all stuffed up. So I received your direct email and also received your attachments as well Les. Thanks to both of you. I'm slowly getting on top of it all.....I think.
