My van is sounding the horn when the steering wheel is at a certain angle which is nearly dead straight. Quite disconcerting! Thanks in advance, Rowan Sent from Yahoo!7 Mail on Android |

which is on the back side of the steering wheel as you are looking at it,
wears in one spot ...the straight ahead position.
That brass looking metal ring should be lubricated once a year say ..
and absolutely no one ever does that I know of.
if you take the steering wheel off and look at the ring, you will likely see it's torn up in that one area ..
where the contact tab rubs on it in the straight ahead position.
I get my new horn contact rings from Van Cafe ..
or a good used either steering wheel with intact horn contact right ..
or a good ring off a used steering wheel should get you working again.
and on all T3 vans ...spray 'something' in there once in a great while,
or if you have the steering wheel off, lube that ring with dielectric grease ..
or just shoot some WD-40 in there ......in my very expereinced opionion WD is generally very good for any electrical mechanism or contact point - the degree to which the mere mention of WD bothers some people notwithstanding.
I could not fix cars without that juice ..it's so useful and has really never let me down in the slightest.
I can't plug a connector back on without treating the contacts with WD , it's been that good for me over the decades.
check your horn contact ring. You should see ripped up little pieces of brass.
