Hot water tank

Hi has anybody tried this , if not ,would it work.
Put a custom made water tank (about 60 litre) in the spare wheel well with stainless steel pipe running through it. Connecting the outlet radiator hose to the S/S pipe running through the water tank and having the hose connected to the other side of S/S pipe carrying the coolant to the engine (as normal)
This would have the radiator return pipe heat up the shower/washing up water in the custom water tank. When you get to your destination you will have hot water in the custom tank for a shower etc.
You could plumb in a shower and water filler cap.
Cheers
Philippe
You can buy a system to do that.
Useing the main cooling lines is a little excessive, the heater lines are more suitable. Also water tanks are best fitted between the wheels behind the sills. the front over hang is the worst place to add 70kg. Greg E

Phillip the water in the system is usually well above boiling point but because it is a pressureised system it wont boil that is why you never open radiator caps as it boils as soon as the pressure is released. So basicly you will get boiling water in your tank?
Hope this helps .........Pete

Trakka used that in their T3 conversion.  From memory, to heat the tank, the cabin heater is turned on.  The supply line to the cabin heater passes through the cold water tank to heat it.
