How much for a Syncro?

Hi All

I am just about to resell my secound 'toolbox' Syncro. How much? The Syncro on Ebay is at $20k. Is it over priced considering that the engine and gearbox are probably original and we could guess a real odometer reading of >> 300,000km?
I only paid $2500 for mine initially (3 months ago). I have spent considerable time and money on it since purchasing. Two weeks labour, $1000 on tyres and $500 on gaskets plugs etc. It now has reco gearbox, reco engine and brakes. Odometer is 350000km. Runs like new, 12 months rego and has LPG.

So to get back what the van owes me (allowing $4000 for 2 weeks labour) that would make the reselling price $8000. Any advice on this?

Peter,
Let me know when you work it out and I'll put an ad on the Kombi Club forum.

It's a bit like how long is a piece of string.

Enjoy a better web experience. Upgrade to the new Internet Explorer 8 optimised for Yahoo!7. Get it now..
Although the Ebay syncro is overpriced (were all entitled to a blue sky
dreaming price) you should take into consideration that it is a
caravelle (more appointments) has front and rear diffs, captain chairs,
metallic paint, and seats 7/8 with the "dickie" seat. Supposedly the
odometer went about 3-4 years ago which @25k's per year gets you to
200k's. So...... as some else said, how longs a piece of string??????

.

It only takes one person to want it and how many syncro Caravelles are left here?

He'll probably relist it at a lower price eventually.

I paid $5000 for mine. Engine had done 25000k since rebuild. tyres, brakes, visco, gearbox all in great shape. also had the gas conversion I removed and aircon. The bloke I bought it from had it advertised for a long time at $6000 and told me he'd only had 2 calls both from interstate. Depends how quickly you want to sell your car and timing is certainly important. I would have happily paid $8000 because I knew how hard these cars were to find! I would shoot for the stars if your not in a hurry!

Hi Peter
Don't know if you received my email re your syncro. Appears not. Not to
sure how the system works in trying to email you directly via the this
group. Can you give some more details about the car and can we see some
pics external and internal.
Does it have diff locks?
Where is it registered?
Does it have windows, do they open?
Any seating in the van itself.
Is it registered
Colour of van.
When we have some of these details then you and potential buyers will
have a better idea of "how much for a Syncro" and whether or not it's a
great car.
Mik.

Hi Peter,

I take it this means you have your 1st van running well with its Subaru motor? How’s that going?

I was originally tempted, but I’ve really got no where to keep another (4th) vehicle. Pricing is difficult too, having seen Werner’s very nice van go for that price, but I can see the argument of what you’ve put into it.

Hello Peter

Still no idea what or if you are actually offering, or are you fishing
around for a price? It's a bit hard from this end to make any sort of
offer without seeing the vehicle in question or answering questions put
to you. Kombi Club forums have certain protocols before you can post on
it's site with regard to selling and some of them are price, general
description of the vehicles condition and some photo's.
Are you selling?

Regards
Mik
