I am after 15x6 spare rim ???

Hey guys! Happy new year!

I just purchased 4x 15 inch rims here a couple of weeks ago. Thank again to the Ex-Owner ;-) Awesome rims. Love them!

My problem...

I am after just spare rim, same size. Doesn't have to have the same looks, just size 6x15 PDC 5/112 of course, steel or Aluminium rim. It just has to fit (weightratio aswell i guess), i am planing to get a spare wheel carrier.

I heard that a 6x15 inch with 215/75R15 wouldn't fit into the original undercarrier?

Is that right?

I hope somebody has a spare, maybe Mercedes? Or customized? Doesn't matter.

Cheers

Seb
Hi Sebastian,

Pleased to hear every thing going well with the wheels. I have been busy the last couple of months but I'm back on line.

I was preparing to head off for 2 weeks in the Kombi doing a with bit of off-road and thought I'd check the spare as I hadn't looked at it ever. I wanted to make sure that may wheel nuts would be compatible with the ones I got for my Tiguan wheels.

To my surprise the spare is a match for your set.

So when I find a replacement for mine you can have this one for $50 plus freight if you are interested.

Cheers

Peter

Sebastian,

Be mindful of the fact that the spare must be of the same loaded radius as the other four wheels; if not, you will cook the VC – unless you have a decoupler.

And a general reminder to newer members: The loaded radius of all four wheels MUST be kept within a maximum of 2% of each other for the same reason – cooked VC otherwise.

Hi there & HAppy new year!

Everything is perfect, i love the wheels.

HAve a look on this link, that's my album of my syncro. What do you think. Just liftet it with Go Westy and OME.

That'll be great. So you have got a 15" spare wheel wich fints underneath?

I have got the original myself. IT has to be 15"?

Are you after the same like yours or are you just searching after a steel or other aluminum wheel.

I can't drive here without spare, so i need it quick... :-(

The risk here in the bush is pretty high to get a flat one.

I am waiting for response, i am more than happy to take your spare in case it is 15"

Cheers

Seb
Cheers les!

Yeah i know, all good, that's why i am after a similar rim. Already got a tyre with roughly the same usage (thread), just need a bloody rim.
So hard to find.

When is the Syncro "Clan" coming up to NT??

Cheers

Seb

Mike,

The tyre of choice for a lot of Syncro owners is the B F Goodrich All Terrain.  It is extremely good off-road, it is very good on wet bitumen and is very quiet for a block tread tyre.  Unfortunately, BFG has stopped making them in 14”!!!

Whilst they are still making the 15”, your question relates to 14” and it will need input from other members to answer because I have run only BFG ATs in 14” and 15”.

The scrubbing is not nearly as important as the loaded radius and that is not something that can be eyeballed; it must be measured accurately.  You will find a procedure in the files section that explains how to do it accurately.  You need to do that so that you know how soon you need to replace your tyres.

Although it hits the hip pocket, you should buy asset of five and rotate them to keep the wear even.  There is a procedure for that in the files as well.

From your description (more worn at the front) you will probably have to replace them immediately.

Typo – that should read “buy a set of five . . .

Hi Mike,

I still have 14 inch rims on my Syncro and the only tyre with an off road tread that I could find in Perth was the Maxxis Buckshot Mudder from Bob Jane TMart.  I have had these tyres for 2 years and apart from being a little noisy on the black stuff they work just fine off road.  I have two spares and regularly rotate the wheels so that I keep them all about the same diameter.

Cheers,

Dave.

For more on road use try Toyo TRANPATH MP4 Eco 215 65 R14.
I'll be buying a set for my 2WD Doka.

Both of these tyres are technically illegal but I do not know of any 14" legal tyre.

They are only just under the weight limit.

I have been using Audi rims for some years you just need to get the centres drilled to fit the front on the Syncro. Most Mercedes rims also have the correct offset. I have also had the front spare carrier modified to fit the larger rims. One day I will post a photo. You loose a little clearance but its better than carrying around a spare inside and cheaper than a rear carrier.
