Hi Ken
Hi Ken, After replacing the TX valve and installing a new compressor the verdict is that the prestige system will work well on a cool day. It will blow cool air on my face on a hot day and if I put a curtain between the front and the back that will help.
I have decided there is no magic fix I have had the 2 most experienced car a/c people in town look at it independently and one described the evaporator as the smallest one he had ever seen.
I will be driving across the Nullabour in a week with cold air blowing into my face and a spray water bottle at the ready.
If you get a different result Ken be sure to let me know the secret. Greg

Inserted into each of these ports was a short brass adaptor piece, shaped on the leading (out) side to suit what looks like a flare nut. On the inside of these brass adaptor pieces is a rubber seal, not sure if they would be described as an O-ring but a seal nevertheless. To me it gave the impression that the threaded ports are pretty much standardised in shape such that with the a suitable brass adaptor piece, would suit flare or O-ring connectors, depending upon what your needs are and hence, the type you insert. Just curious then did you or your AC guy notice these short brass adaptors and their rubber seals? They fit snugly into the ends of the ports and they simply pull out with a little help. Makes me wonder then perhaps Yuriks valve is the correct one anyway, just needs the correct brass adaptor pieces and seals to suit in our cases, flare type connectors.

I agree with you ... no one seems to know.I'm about to pull my old TX valve and hand it on to him and see what he comes up with. Honestly, identifying the equivalent/correct spec replacement is rocket science.Have you progressed any further yet on identifying a replacement TX valve?Cheers.Ken
