Laptop power/recharging in a syncro

All,
Given the scarcity of free space in my Trakka campervan, I'm interested to learn if anyone has come up with an effective yet minimalist solution for supplying power/recharging a laptop computer from the vans 12vdc supply. The laptop power supply specs are DC19v @ 6.32 amps which calculates to a minimum 120 Watts. I'm presently thinking what would suit me is a portable combination power supply that can plug into 12vdc/invert to DC19v or else when available ... plug into 240vac. Not a big fan at this stage of a fixed insitu type inverter due to space limitations and not being portable. Thoughts anyone please? TIA.
Cheers.
Ken

Ken,

Jaycar have plenty of inverters to choose from starting from $49.95. (CAT. NO. MI5102)   http://www.jaycar.com.au/productResults.asp?keywords=inverter&keyform=KEYWORD

I’ve used one for years to run the laptop and also to charge cameras, phones and torches without any hassles. If you want a pure sine wave  model they are about 3 times the cost of the lower grade model. They really don’t take up much space, particularly the lower power rating models and they plug into the cigarette lighter socket. I fitted a cigarette lighter socket (CAT. NO. PS2002) in the panel at the front of the bed/seat next to the sliding door. It is close to the house battery so very little wiring needed and allows me to use the computer outside the van.

Cheers,

Tom

Buy a 300 watt pure sine wave inverter, $100 on ebay including free delivery to your home. The stuff from China is pretty good these days and much cheaper than just a few years ago.

Doone, Tom, All,
Thanks a lot for your responses.
However, essentially the sort of "minimalist" solution alternatives that I am enquiring about from members ideally won't add anything to the van ... simply displace.
As an example of a brilliantly minimalist solution I found earlier, see Jaycar 2010 Catalogue Page 388 Item MP-3322. This is a 2010 "NEW" item listing. According to Jaycar it remains unsourced and any enquiry as to an approximate arrival date is met with blank stares and befuddlement. So reading between the lines, despite its listing in the current catalogue, it could well be 1 month, 1 year, 10 years or never.
Essentially then my first choice is an equivalent to that or some other "minimalist" solution, hence my original enquiry to members.
So if anyone can point me to any alternative "minimalist" type solutions, I'd appreciate it. TIA.
Cheers.

How minimalist do you want? The Jaycar150W inverter is only 141(L) x 79(W) x
45(H)mm. Screw it to the front of the board under the bed/seat.
It won't interfere with the sitting comfort of any backseat passengers. You
could almost keep it in your pocket.

There is also a model that just sits in your cigarette lighter (the whole
inverter).
