Hi all,
My virgin post on our new patch and many thanks to all who’ve put in the hard yards to bring it to fruition.
Given our barely passable syncro headlighting for the past 30 years, I thought it about time to introduce this topic to see if it’s up for discussion, ideally to share ideas, facts & experiences to date.
To start with, my understanding is the outer hi/lo beam lights require an H4 and the inner hi beam light requires H3 type base fittings. Correct?
I see for example that VanCafe and Vanagain have LED lights available for Vanagons, with VanCafe being an outer only, whereas Vanagain has both. However in my view, sadly all offerings lack sufficient information to enable a prospective customer to make an informed decision. Why this is so I have no idea.
Seems to me the technology for LED headlights is rapidly evolving, with models on offer just a couple of years ago NLA, replaced by new models.
Continuing on, so in attempting to gain a basic understanding, I came across a retailer video called TRUTH ABOUT LED HEADLIGHT BULBS, its purpose being to educate anyone interested in the topic which otherwise to the uninformed and confused, in my view remains in the can of worms category!
Here’s the link below, please take the time to view it fully, hopefully to generate purposeful discussion here by many, for the benefit of all interested members …

Cheers.
