Love to buy a syncro t3 (and so does everyone else it seems...)

Hi there, I'm new to this space. I live on Straddy up north which is a
sand island. We have proper roads of course but there's also a hellava
lotta sand. I was going to get just another standard 70's Kombi, but I
seem to have become completely obsessed with getting a t3 syncro and
converting it to a camper, after seeing one in Noosa. So then, who has
one that they would like to sell me? Any leads appreciated. On
another note I know a fellow called Doug who is selling a t4 syncro in
Brissie. I'm going to have a look next week as he owns both a t3 and a
t4 but he's keeping the t3. If anyone's interested I could perhaps
call him to see if he would like to put his number up here - I don't
know him so I'd have to check of course. (Actually this is a t3 site
isn't it, anyway you never know who might be after one).
So, send me pictures of your vehicles and a short statement of why I
should buy yours, ha ha ha.

Hi Lucy, and welcome.

 

Doug sounds like Rudi’s friend from Bribie Island , who took that T4 on the Kombis to the Kape trek back in May. I must say I thought it did surprisingly well in the tough conditions. He basically went everywhere the T3’s went, so don’t dismiss it. It’s probably also cheaper (but I don’t really know) than a T3, as they are so sought after. Say hi from me when you see him.

Thanks for your leads guys, yes Doug did mention that trip, his t4 is
listed at $30,000 so its more than the t3. One of the others
reccomended has sold and the other is too far away. I have been
getting really good tips from those called though, particularly about
the use of water coolant. Must ensure the water is green or pink ie
they've used G11 or such like to stop problems with the head gasket
blowing off or at least causing distress / blowing black smoke - its
all stuff I need to know, so thanks, Lucy

Hey Lucy, Finding the right coolant is just the beginning... good luck
in your hunting hope you find a good one. Not sure what's happening

Lucy,

The one Gary is talking about used to visit an ex-neighbour of mine @
Narrabeen (sydney) when I had an old bay window auto bus (Pre- syncro
some 14 years ago).

A fantastic vehilce that was very well loved and well set up as a
camper for 2. He mentioned he had a bed set-up for his young boy
across the front seats - probably a hammock which would make it a 2.5
sleeper.

It has a few Kms on it now but definately a great vehicle.
