Hi all, has anyone done this replacement ? I'm looking to do my own and would like to know if I need a press & the capacity it needs to have. Any info would be great . Thanks, Eddie.
Hi Eddie, Yes you will need a press to do it right. Three bolts hold the ball joint housing in the pressed steel arms. Remove those and leave the arm in place if you know the lca bush is ok. Then remove the large nut off the ball joint and use a separator or a sharp tap on the knuckle to release the ball joint. I have a small press that you can take with you or bring the ball joints around. Not using it at the moment as I am knocking down the garage. Greg E

Thanks for the offer Greg. I'm hoping to buy a press for my own DIY workshop. Do you know what sort of force is required to press the bushes in & out? I don't mind taking the arms out as I'm planning on swapping cv joints as well. Just waiting for a fix from Whiteline for their dogdgy engineered UCA bushes(waiting 6 months now) and some time, and I'll be into it. Never know , might end up with a squeak free front end. Eddie.
Hey Eddie, I just have a super cheap auto press. http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/SCA-Shop-Press-H-Frame-6000kg.aspx?pid=214467#Cross Got stuck one Sunday and they had them on special for around a hundred bucks. I widened the bed a little. This kind of little press will do all the running gear jobs on a t3. Won't be very useful for gearbox rebuilds but I am guessing that does not worry you.
So, I am interested to hear your whiteline saga. Greg E

Thanks again Greg, now I've got an idea of the press I need. Seems that whiteline produced the ucabushes for T3's without testing or even quality control. I knew within a minute if opening the package and putting the three piece bush together that they were too sloppy and weren't going to work. After a couple of phone calls they agreed that there was a problem & would look into it. A few months ago they called & said the first attempt to fix it ended up with a "too tight" bush, so would have to try again & would let me know when done. It's about six months from my original purchase and I'm starting to doubt whether they are able to fix the problem. Going to call next week & ask for a refund if they can't resolve the problem soon.

That is normal for that company.

And to think that I was only a couple of clicks away from ordering the proven powerflex bushes from the states for about the same money when I decided to give the locals a go. Eddie.
That is a real shame to hear. Sounds like you are at the stage of demanding your money back. Tell them the car is undrivable and you have had to go and buy the powerflex's due to their inaction.
